This mini sample has been a really cool part of the process to see come together.

At first glance, it looks like a high end architectural wood door with detailed trim casing. That is the point.

What most people will never see is what is being built underneath that finish.

For this project, the full size doors will use solid white oak on the interior and door skins so we can replicate the look and feel of the original historic doors. These are designs that are over 100 years old, so the goal is not to make them look new or out of place. The goal is to preserve the architecture while building real protection into the opening.

Behind the wood, these doors will include Level 8 ballistic panels, Level 5 ballistic glass, and an FE-15 forced entry door structure and locking system.

That combination is what allows us to take something that looks like a traditional luxury wood door and turn it into a hardened security system without changing the character of the building.

This is what we mean when we say Security Wrapped in Luxury.

It is not just about making something stronger.

It is about making it belong.

It starts here.

What you’re looking at is the frame of our full-size Obsidian Armory demo door currently in production.

This is the early structural stage of a door that is being built for something much bigger to come.
Before the luxury finish, before the final assembly, and before the live test, it all starts with the structure.

We’re building this demo unit to showcase what goes into a true protective door system and later this year we’ll be sharing much more.

For now, just know this is only the beginning.

I had a conversation recently that really stuck with me.

A family had their home broken into. Thankfully everyone was safe, but they were badly shaken. It is one thing to lose property. It is another thing to have someone violate the place your family is supposed to feel safest.

After speaking with him, it sounds like the loss was well into seven figures.

That is hard to even process.

And it is a reminder that this kind of thing is not always random, small, or easily recovered from. For some people, a break in can mean losing years of work, assets, sensitive information, family heirlooms, or things that cannot simply be replaced.

Most people think about home security after the fact. Cameras. Alarms. A safe in the closet. Maybe a gate.

Those things all have their place, but they usually tell you what happened after someone is already inside.

That is the part we are trying to change.

Obsidian Armory was built around the physical side of security. Doors that are designed to resist forced entry. Windows and openings that can be hardened. Secure rooms that give a family somewhere to go. Protection that can be built into a beautiful home without making it look or feel like a bunker.

Because when something actually happens, the question becomes very simple.

Can they get in?

And if they try, how long can the home hold them out?

Those minutes matter. They give your family time to react. They give law enforcement time to respond. They can be the difference between someone making entry and someone giving up before they ever get inside.

This is why we do what we do.

Security should not start after someone is already standing inside your home.

This is only the beginning.

What you’re looking at here is the internal steel structure of a full-size Obsidian Armory demonstration door currently in production.

When complete, this will not look like a steel frame or industrial security door. It will be finished as a high-end luxury architectural wood door, built to blend into a refined residential or commercial environment while hiding the protection inside.

This demo unit is being built as a Level 8 ballistic rated and FE15 forced-entry certified door, designed to show what real protection looks like beneath the surface.

We’re not ready to show everything yet, but later this year we’ll be putting this door through a full live test day to demonstrate the capability of our systems in a way most people have never seen.

This is not a wood door.

This is a forced-entry certified security door wrapped in white oak hardwood and finished with raised panels to create the elevated look of a luxury architectural door.

From the outside, it carries the warmth and detail of traditional millwork. Inside, the structure is built for protection.

The cutaway shows the internal forced-entry construction before ballistic armor is added.

This sample does not include the ballistic panel, but the final full-size doors for this client are being built with a Level 8 ballistic steel panel package.

That is the entire purpose of Obsidian Armory.

Historic architecture requires more than standard security solutions.

This scan represents the type of work Obsidian Armory is built for. These are not ordinary doors. At nearly 15 feet tall, historic entry systems like this require extreme accuracy, detailed replication and a deep respect for the original architecture.

Using high accuracy 3D scanning technology, we are able to capture the existing profiles, proportions, panel details, arch geometry and surrounding conditions needed to reproduce doors and windows that were built more than 100 years ago.

From there, our goal is to preserve the historical appearance while integrating modern protective performance, including forced entry rated assemblies, ballistic rated glass and ballistic rated door systems.

The result is security that does not compromise the building’s character.

Preserving history while engineering modern protection.

At Obsidian Armory, our work begins long before a new door or window is built. For historic structures like this, accuracy matters. Every radius, reveal, panel profile, sightline and architectural detail has to be documented with precision before we can begin recreating doors and windows that honor the original design.

That is why we work with some of the most advanced and accurate 3D scanning systems in the world. These scans allow us to capture existing conditions in extreme detail so we can reproduce historic doors and windows built more than 100 years ago while integrating modern security measures such as forced entry rated doors, ballistic rated glass and upgraded protective assemblies.

The goal is not to change the character of the building. The goal is to protect it without compromising the architecture, craftsmanship or historical significance that makes it irreplaceable.

Security does not have to look industrial. When done correctly, it can be engineered into the design, hidden within the details and built to serve the structure for the next 100 years.

Progress update from the Obsidian Armory shop floor.

These representative samples for one of our government clients are now in the structural fabrication stage before heading off for powder coating.

This is the stage most people never see.

Before the final finish, before the trim details and before the product becomes part of the built environment, the real work is in the frame, structure, reinforcement and precision fabrication.

This project is specified to include full FE15 forced entry certified doors with Level 8 ballistic protection along with windows designed for Level 5 ballistic protection.

At Obsidian Armory, our focus is simple: deliver forced entry resistant and ballistic rated security solutions that are engineered for real world protection while still being designed to integrate into high end architectural environments.

Security should not be an afterthought.

It should be built into the structure from the beginning.
