Can This New Shingle Really Match the Old One?

One of the biggest questions in roofing is whether a newer shingle can truly match an existing roof.

In this case, we compared the original shingle side-by-side with the replacement and looked at all the details: width, height, exposure, adhesive strips, and manufacturer-specific features.
The original shingle measured 40 inches wide, while the newer version comes in at 39 inches. At first glance, that might seem like a problem. But after reviewing the NTS report, manufacturer documentation, and key identifying features, we confirmed they're the same product line from the same manufacturer.

Sometimes manufacturers make changes to dimensions over the years while keeping the core product and installation requirements the same.
That's why proper documentation matters. When it comes to repairability, compatibility, and insurance claims, the details make all the difference.
