Another month has flown by, and all the details are beginning to come together.

Test slabs were completed before the project broke ground to finalize the concrete color, grind depth, and type of sealer, as the finished slab will serve as the final flooring surface throughout this beautiful home.

Window shop drawings were carefully reviewed to work through the intricacies of the frame-to-CMU connections, perimeter shadow reveal, required floor depressions to minimize the sill transition, and the tight tolerances necessary to achieve true floor-to-ceiling windows.

With the slab placed, the masons wasted no time keeping pace and taking the project vertical. Now that the second grout lift is complete, the home and its geometry are really beginning to take shape, revealing some of the architectural “moments of delight” that may appear effortless but are anything but accidental. They are the result of thoughtful design, careful planning, and precise ex*****on.

The next three weeks will bring the project to another major turning point, with the concrete floor grinding taking place and all hands on deck in preparation for framing.

We take great pride in working alongside trades who are always willing to collaborate with us in the field—working through details with conversations, sketches on builder paper, and creative solutions informed by years of field experience. That collaboration between builder and trades is an important part of achieving the best possible result and honoring the architect’s original design intent.

Six weeks after placing the footings, we've reached another major milestone.

The site is now ready for the final slab placement—the last stage of the foundation before this home begins to rise vertically.

Reaching this point required weeks of careful planning, coordination, and craftsmanship from an exceptional team. Our masons, plumbers, electricians, earthwork crew, and concrete partners worked together to ensure every detail beneath the slab is precisely where it needs to be before the concrete is placed.

The work below grade is never seen, but it is the foundation of every exceptional home. It's where quality begins. We're excited to celebrate another milestone and watch this project begin its vertical journey.

Benjamin Hall - Benjamin Hall Design stopped by one of our projects today and got hands-on in the field. It is uncommon for the architect or designer to get this involved in the process, and we love it. Benjamin was introducing a wood finish we were unfamiliar with and wanted to demonstrate the process himself.

Always appreciated when design professionals are willing to collaborate at this level and help ensure the vision is executed properly. Nicely done — thank you, Benjamin

After two weeks spent aligning our building layout with the structural drawings, we successfully completed the footing placement. This required about 140 tons of concrete. We are now moving forward with constructing the stem walls and the necessary underground installations. Stay tuned.

The last three weeks have been filled with lots of dirt. Proper attention being given to the preparation of the pad for this new build and hitting our compaction numbers assure that this building will stand for many years to come. We have started trenching for the footers and getting ready to start installing rebar next week.

Week one in the books and the house demolition is complete; the lot is now cleared and ready for the next phase. We’re fortunate to have awesome clients who enjoy being part of the process—even if that means getting their hands dirty and knocking down some walls—and who trust the vision and process from start to finish. Up next is the removal and fill of the old pool and building of the new pad where the future home will take shape.

A challenging hillside location, while offering breathtaking views, often restricts the amount of usable flat area. To address this, we designed and constructed this impressive 450 square foot freestanding deck, expanding the entertainment area and enhancing the enjoyment of this stunning Camelback home.
