Another project is officially underway in Utah! Willmeng recently joined ViaWest Group and project partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of 9 South Commerce Center in Salt Lake City.

The two-building, 172,438-square-foot industrial development will bring modern industrial space to 10 acres near several of the region’s major transportation corridors and Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC).

Willmeng is serving as the general contractor, continuing a long-standing relationship with ViaWest Group that spans numerous industrial developments across the Western U.S. Designed by AE Urbia Architects and Engineers and CIR Civil Engineering, the project is scheduled for completion in mid-2027.

Thank you to ViaWest Group and our project partners for their continued collaboration. We look forward to seeing 9 South Commerce Center take shape!

A refreshed campus is ready to welcome students back at Burton Elementary School in Kaysville, Utah.

Willmeng recently joined Davis School District and the community to celebrate the completion of the 7,820-square-foot expansion and renovation, delivering enhanced safety features, updated infrastructure, modern learning spaces, and a newly redone courtyard and outdoor classroom. When the courtyard and outdoor classroom had to be removed from the original scope to keep the project on budget, Willmeng donated the necessary funds to ensure this important space remained part of the finished campus.

Thank you to Utah Business for sharing the story behind the project and what these improvements will mean for Burton Elementary students, staff, and families.

Willmeng Construction and the Davis School District officially celebrated the completion of the Burton Elementary School expansion and renovation project with a community ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the start of the school year.

Arizona’s cities and towns are navigating evolving needs as the state continues to grow.

Last week, municipal officials gathered at the 2026 Arizona League of Cities and Towns Annual Conference to exchange perspectives on local priorities and challenges, with sessions covering topics including “Innovation in Infrastructure Financing.” Willmeng Director of Business Development Daniel Hunter was among the speakers at this year’s conference, joining public servants and industry professionals from throughout Arizona.

Events like this provide a valuable forum for the public and private sectors to learn from one another and better understand the needs of Arizona communities.

Thank you to AZ Cities for bringing people together and facilitating meaningful conversations.

Preserving ice cores from Antarctica, Greenland, and North America requires a facility built for highly specialized conditions. Designed to meet those demands, the National Science Foundation (NSF) Ice Core Facility in Lakewood, CO has been named an Engineering News-Record (ENR) Mountain States Best Project in the Government/Public Building category!

Willmeng served as the general contractor on the new 19,058-square-foot facility, designed to preserve these important samples and support scientific research for years to come. Congratulations to the entire project team, including owner GSA Office of Real Property Disposition, architect OZ Architecture, and IMEG Corp., formerly McVeigh & Mangum Engineering. Thank you for your expertise and collaboration in bringing this unique facility to life!

Judges have awarded 67 projects in the annual Mountain States Best Projects competition. Winners will be honored the first week of December at events in Salt Lake City and Denver.

Continued investment is one of the strongest signals of confidence in a market.

With Phase II of Formation Park 10 now underway, the development reflects the continued growth and opportunity taking shape across Maricopa County. As Formation Interests CEO Adam Herrin shared, this marks the company’s third project in the Phoenix metro area and another investment in the region’s momentum.

Following the successful completion of Phase I, Willmeng is excited to return as general contractor for Phase II, adding three buildings and more than 261,000 square feet of industrial space along the I-10 corridor.

We’re grateful to continue working alongside Formation Interests, Crescent Real Estate, Deutsch Architecture Group, and CBRE to bring the next phase to life.

Safety starts long before work begins, and it comes to life in the decisions our teams make every day.

On a project in the West Valley, the team has successfully navigated high-pressure gas lines, high-voltage overhead power lines, live underground utilities, and challenging soil conditions while keeping safety at the forefront.

That's exactly the kind of work the Willmeng Safety Challenge Coin (pictured) is meant to recognize. It marks a moment when someone looked out for the crew, stopped a small thing from becoming a big thing, or set a standard the rest of the site could follow.

The coin is a reminder that safety is a visible, non-negotiable value we own together. When you see one, you're looking at a win we want repeated.

Thank you to the entire project team for planning ahead, looking out for one another, and making safety real on the job.

Mesa Gateway Library has been named the 2026 Public Library of the Year. This recognition means so much to our team, and what makes it even more meaningful is how described Gateway Library: “a refreshing, forward-thinking take on what a great library could be.”

They recognized not only its design, but its role as a welcoming community hub and shared space for reading, innovation, and connection. That’s exactly what this project was meant to be.

Congratulations to the City of Mesa, Arizona Government, Richärd Kennedy Architects, and everyone who helped bring Gateway Library to life. It was an honor for our Willmeng team to be part of creating a place that will serve this community for generations.

Mesa Gateway Library has been named the world’s best new public library, winning the 2026 International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions/James Bennett Public Library of the Year Award

From infrastructure and education to global trade, the One Utah Summit covered a lot of ground last week in Cedar City.

What tied it all together was a shared focus on creating economic opportunity throughout Utah, including the rural communities playing an important role in the state’s continued growth.

The Willmeng team, including James Murphy, Jimmy Lindblom, and Nick Slye had a great time connecting with fellow attendees, hearing from leaders across industries and gaining a broader perspective on the priorities influencing growth across the state.
