Hello there, friend! The staff are loving seeing fireflies in their gardens right now.
Did you know fireflies are highly beneficial to gardens primarily because their larvae act as voracious, natural pest control. As they forage in the soil and leaf litter for up to two years, they consume destructive, soft-bodied pests like slugs and snails. To support them, we highly recommend reducing herbicide use, leaving a bit of leaf litter for them, and reduce nighttime light during their mating cycle.
Check out Firefly.org for more information if you love fireflies as much as we do!
