🚨 *BREAKING: Today is October 1, which means we’re officially kicking off National Pavement Maintenance Awareness Month. **

How does a paving company celebrate?

We considered a parade. But there is already too much traffic on 94.

We thought about cutting a ribbon, but asphalt is notoriously hard on scissors.

And nobody wanted to dress up as a pothole. Weird.

So instead, we’re asking you to do something truly festive: go look at your parking lot. 👀

Cracks? Crumbling? Standing water? That suspicious little spot you’ve been ignoring since May?

Wisconsin’s freeze/thaw cycle is coming, and it has a special talent for turning “eh, it’s probably fine” into “how much is THAT going to cost?”

Consider this your reminder to schedule your annual pavement checkup.

🩺Early detection can save your asphalt $$ AND October is your last good window to fix the small stuff before Mother Nature clocks in for the season.

Schedule your pavement assessment with PLM and GET AHEAD OF WINTER.

*Is National Pavement Maintenance Awareness Month officially recognized nationwide? No.

Should it be? Absolutely.

Is this basically a giant 3D printer for concrete? Kind of.

PLM's Concrete Foreman, Christian breaks down how our slipform machine takes wet concrete and continuously shapes it into finished curb as it moves.

Cool to watch? Absolutely. But the real story is why it matters to our customers.

A slipform machine allows us to install long runs of curb and gutter in one continuous operation—reducing the need for traditional forms and helping our crews work faster, maintain a consistent profile and minimize disruption on your property.

And that equipment matters when you’re choosing a concrete contractor.

Companies that invest in specialized equipment can bring more of the process in-house, control the schedule, improve consistency and get a whole lot of concrete down efficiently.

But the machine is only as good as the people running it.

That’s where guys like Christian come in. 👊

Experienced crews + the right equipment = a better way to build.

That’s the PLM difference.

Some jobs are about pavement. Some are about something much bigger. ❤️

When we heard a local Make-A-Wish recipient had wished for a hot tub, we knew there was one part of that wish PLM could help with: giving it the perfect place to land.

Our team donated the time, equipment and materials to excavate and build a new concrete hot tub pad in the family’s backyard.

And this little job came with a BIG challenge: not a lot of room to work.

Watch our excavator operator, Joe C., carefully navigate around overhead power lines, a tight backyard and the family’s beautiful flower garden like the pro he is.

When you’ve spent years behind the controls, it shows. 💪

Getting the concrete back there took a little creativity, too. Instead of bringing in larger equipment and tearing up more of the yard, our crew used concrete buggies to move the material into the backyard—helping us get the job done while minimizing disruption to the family’s property.

We may not have been able to deliver the hot tub, but we were pretty darn happy to help make room for the wish.To this special family: we hope there are a whole lot of happy memories, warm water and relaxing nights ahead.

Enjoy every minute of it. ❤️

Thank you, Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, for letting PLM play a small part in making a wish come true. These are the jobs that remind us why we love what we do.

One guess per person. Get it in before the gate closes!

And before you decide October is way too early...
Wisconsin has seen snow as early as September 23 — and in September 1942, parts of the state got more than SIX INCHES. 😳❄️

So choose wisely.
🏁 PLACE YOUR GUESS.
❄️ MOTHER NATURE SETS THE DATE.

Let the 2026 PLM First Flake Stakes begin.

Winter is coming for your asphalt—ready or not. ❄️

We hate to keep going on about winter coming - but this is Wisconsin, and it’ll be here before you know it. Sorry. We don’t make the weather; we just help protect your pavement from it. 😂❄️

Now is the time to seal cracks and joints, correct drainage issues and repair minor surface damage before water gets in and freeze/thaw cycles turn small problems into expensive spring surprises.

A little maintenance now can save your asphalt AND your budget later.

🚨 SPOILER ALERT: Those cracks aren’t going to fill themselves.

And we’re not kidding about the spoiler part.

That little crack in your parking lot right now? Give it a Wisconsin winter and it could come back next spring bigger, uglier and considerably more expensive.

The good news? Small problems can still have small-ish price tags. Crack sealing, infrared patching and other preventative repairs are quick, budget-friendly ways to protect your pavement and stretch the life of your lot.

The catch: Mother Nature gives us a deadline. Once temperatures head south, some of these repairs have to wait until spring.

So fix small now—or potentially pay big later.
❄️ WINTER DOESN’T NEED AN APPOINTMENT. PAVEMENT REPAIRS DO.

Our remaining 2026 schedule is literally almost booked, it takes a few to assess your property and get you on the proper maintenance path and let’s be honest, the weather gets the final say on when the season ends.

Don’t wait until it’s too late. Book your Walk the Lot Assessment now. Like right now.

Think September is too early for snow? Think again.

Wisconsin has recorded snow as early as September 23—and in September 1942, parts of the state received more than six inches. 😳❄️

To help ease the pain of that troubling thought, we’re hosting the First Flake Stakes!

🏁 Place your guess: On what date will Milwaukee County receive its first measurable cumulative snowfall of at least one inch measured at Mitchell Field?

Drop your prediction in the comments for a chance to win a $50 gift card!❄️ Guess the date
❄️ Tiebreaker: Guess the total snowfall
⏰ Submit your guess by October 1st to be eligible.

Even though the calendar says fall, winter in Wisconsin is coming—whether we’re emotionally prepared or not.

The First Flake Stakes are officially on! 🏁❄️

09/22/2026

🍂 Today is the first day of fall—and while we’re emotionally unprepared for the leaves to start dropping, Mother Nature did not ask for our approval.

Colder weather is right around the corner, and those cracks in your pavement aren’t going to fix themselves. In fact, Wisconsin’s freeze-thaw cycles are already warming up for their annual performance.

Schedule your free, no-obligation walk-the-lot assessment now, and let’s get your pavement ready before Jack Frost starts making expensive decisions on your behalf.

Real talk: Wisconsin’s construction season has about 60 days left—and Jack Frost is already making plans. ❄️

We wish preparing your parking lot for winter were as easy as snapping our fingers. Unfortunately, pavement repairs require scheduling, materials and crews—and the calendar is filling up fast.

Meanwhile, those innocent-looking cracks? Jack Frost is ready to slide right in, add water, freeze it, expand it and leave absolute chaos behind. A repair that costs $1 this fall could become an $8 problem by spring.

What’s the best way to prepare asphalt for winter on a tight budget? Start with two of the most cost-effective pavement repairs:
• Crack filling helps stop water from reaching and damaging the pavement base.
• Infrared asphalt repair targets failing areas without the cost of replacing the entire parking lot.

Don’t wait until your pavement’s spring breakup gets more expensive than your actual spring break.

Call PLM Paving & Concrete at 262-691-3964 to schedule your free, no-obligation Walk the Lot assessment and get properly prepped before winter arrives.
