Each year, our summer interns spend a day giving back to the community. This year's event took place at Journey21, helping with the organization's end-of-year Field Day. Throughout the day, the interns assisted with activities, cheered on participants, and helped create a fun, welcoming environment for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The outing also gave the interns an opportunity to learn more about Journey21's mission to provide meaningful opportunities for adults with IDD. It was a rewarding day filled with teamwork, new experiences, and plenty of smiles, making it another memorable part of this summer's internship program.

We're honored to have partnered with Make-A-Wish Wisconsin to help bring Trevion's dream game room to life. Our team volunteered to install TVs, assemble furniture, and put the finishing touches on a space designed just for him. Seeing Trevion's excitement over his new room, complete with WWE gear and other personalized touches, made it an experience we'll never forget. Thank you to Make-A-Wish Wisconsin for allowing us to be part of such a meaningful project.

The Fox Cities community is facing a long road to recovery after this week's devastating storms. While no single donation can replace what's been lost, we all have an opportunity to help our neighbors.

Today, our team filled a VJS truck with donated supplies and delivered them to support local relief efforts. It's one small way we can give back.

Recovery efforts are ongoing, with an immediate need for diapers, reusable tote bags, and bins. If you're able, please consider donating, volunteering, or sharing the recovery resource page with others. https://www.volunteerfoxcities.org/2026-storms/

Congratulations to VJS Project Manager Allie Jorgensen, who has been named a Project Manager of the Year honoree in The Daily Reporter’s 2026 Women in Construction Awards and a finalist for the Next Generation Leadership Award as part of the 2026 BizTimes Nonprofit Excellence Awards.

Through her work on construction projects, volunteer service, fundraising, mentorship, and leadership development, Allie showcases what Building With Purpose really means.

Despite the summer heat, the turnout for the Kinship Community Food Center groundbreaking was incredible. The energy, excitement, and sense of community were impossible to miss; it's clear just how much this project means to Milwaukee.

We're honored to be part of bringing this vision to life and can't wait to help build a space that will become a true community hub, expanding access to fresh food, workforce opportunities, and connection for generations to come.

We are saddened by the passing of Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow.

Paul was a dedicated public servant, a strong advocate for our community, and a longtime friend of VJS. We were honored to have him join us as a speaker during our 75th anniversary celebration in 2023.

Our thoughts are with Amy, his family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him. His impact on Waukesha County will be felt for generations.

Our interns got a closer look at jobsite safety during this year’s Intern Safety Ride Along.

The day included a visit to the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) - Engineering Innovation Center Addition & Renovation project site, where they learned how safety, planning, communication, and teamwork come together on an active construction site.

A big thank you to our Safety Team and project team for sharing their time and knowledge. Experiences like this help our interns better understand the people, processes, and purpose behind the work we do every day.
