Not every high-weed project is about routine maintenance or fire prevention.
This week, our crew worked on ranchland in Petaluma that is being restored to wetlands. The project will help restore natural hydrologic processes while supporting native plants and wildlife.
Our crew used a careful two-step cutting process, allowing time between cuts for animals living in the grass to safely flee and relocate. They also kept watch for the endangered salt-marsh harvest mouse, a species found only in the coastal salt marshes of the San Francisco Bay Area.
It’s rewarding to see our crew play a small part in restoring this unique local landscape.
