We're proud to share that the Twin Pines
Belmont Creek Restoration was named Project of the
Year by the APWA Silicon Valley chapter — and
Hanford received Contractor of the Year honors
alongside it.

The project involved restoring roughly 600 linear feet of
Belmont Creek within Twin Pines Park: removing
invasive vegetation, stabilizing eroding banks with
large woody debris structures, installing engineered
riffles to reduce future channel erosion, and planting
natives throughout. The goal was to reduce
downstream flooding risk, improve water quality, and
bring back functional aquatic and terrestrial habitat.

Grateful to the City of Belmont for trusting us with this
one, and to everyone on the crew who put in the work.

One of our current projects is along the Bolinas Wye, the junction at the north end of Bolinas Lagoon. We're working alongside and the conservancy on the vegetation side of the Wye Wetlands Resiliency Project.

The overall project reconnected Lewis Gulch Creek to its original path to Bolinas Lagoon, and includes planting over 10,000 native trees and plants. Our crews are helping those plantings take hold by clearing out invasive species such as Cape ivy, Himalayan blackberry, and periwinkle. This work takes a combination of machine work, targeted chemical treatment, hand labor, and routine visits to ensure the entire system transitions back to natural function.

Bolinas Lagoon is a designated Ramsar site, recognized as a wetland of international importance for the rare habitat and biodiversity it supports. As such, it’s a pretty special place to work.

Some of the most critical and fragile places we work are also the ones that on the surface look like not much is happening. Still water. Muddy ground. Inaccessible to people.

Wetlands are doing some of the heaviest lifting for our planet's natural systems, filtering water, holding back floods, sustaining countless species. Although more support is always needed to preserve wetlands, we're grateful to be on the team that is fighting to protect and restore these vital lands.�

🌎 Today is Earth Day, a worthy moment to reflect and show appreciation for our team and the environments we work in. We are fortunate to spend our days working in places most people don't see, wetlands, riverbanks, hillsides, coastal edges, places that are quietly doing a lot of heavy lifting for broader ecosystems. Sometimes that work involves big heavy machinery, and sometimes it is hand planting by the thousands. It is hard work, but our team is passionate about it and proud to do it. A lot of it happens out of sight, but we know the impact is lasting.

We are proud to be underway on Phase 2 of the Dunphy Park Improvement Project, completing the remaining elements of the original master plan with a focus on ecological enhancement and long-term shoreline resiliency.

This work is happening under tight conditions. Sandwiched between the coastline and Sausalito's busy downtown corridor, every operation has to be timed around the tides. Working carefully with heavy equipment in a compressed footprint, our crews are managing invasive species removal, contaminated soil, and the construction of a new living shoreline system. The system integrates rock toe installation, granite block terracing, and erosion control fabric with saline-tolerant native plantings, creating a shoreline built to adapt and endure.

When the work is done, what was once a degraded waterfront edge will be a more resilient and functional shoreline for the City of Sausalito.

April is Earth Month, and as we know, the planet, its land, water, and systems, is where we work daily. Whether it's landscape-scale projects with heavy machinery or remote locations requiring handwork, building up vegetation or controlling it, we are constantly tending to the Earth and supporting the systems we all depend on. We are incredibly grateful to be part of a growing industry that helps build resilience and sustainability for the land we call home.

From the Delta to the California coastline to mountain creeks, many of our water systems need support. Erosion, climate change, and development place constant pressure on these resources.

Much of our work is focused on keeping water functioning the way it should. Clean, reliable, and capable of supporting people, habitats, and ecosystems.

💧 On World Water Day , we’re reminded that water shapes everything around us, from communities to ecosystems. Protecting it takes substantial work. It’s a commitment that never stops, and one we’re proud to be part of.

Much of our work focuses on landscape-scale construction projects, but some of the most critical work happens in the follow-through by eliminating invasive species to keep ecosystems functioning as they should. 🌱

In a remote section of the Delta, long-term vegetation management is underway in tidal marshes where access is limited and conditions are challenging. Invasives are identified in advance, mapped by GPS, and treated with a highly targeted approach that removes problem plants while protecting surrounding native vegetation. �

This work is essential as invasive species will eventually overwhelm native ecosystems. Through targeted eradication native landscapes are given the time and space to recover, strengthen, and thrive over the long term. 🌿
