CUSTOM vs. PRODUCTION HOME: What’s Actually Different?

It’s more than choosing different cabinets or moving a wall.

🏠 PRODUCTION HOME
You typically start with a predetermined floor plan and choose from a defined menu of options, finishes and upgrades. It can be a great fit when you want a more streamlined process and don’t need extensive customization.

✏️ CUSTOM HOME
The process starts with you.

How do you live?
How do you use your kitchen?
Do you work from home?
Need more storage?
Want the primary suite separated from the other bedrooms?
Have a specific homesite you need to design around?

With a custom home, the floor plan can be designed—or an existing plan modified—to work around your lifestyle, priorities and property.

That’s the difference.

Production asks you to fit the house.
Custom allows the house to fit you.

☠The scariest words in custom homebuilding:
"I saw something on Pinterest…"☠

Ever had an idea that seemed great in theory, but in practice… well, it’s a whole other story? Let's just say this build might have overshot the vision board a bit! 😂

There’s nothing more rewarding than hearing directly from our homeowners. ❤️

Building a custom home is about more than creating a beautiful space—it’s about bringing a family’s vision to life and making the entire experience one they’ll remember for years to come.

We’re honored to share what John & Deitra had to say about their experience building with Mavillino Homes:

“From the very beginning, Mavillino made us feel like family. They listened to what we wanted, guided us through every decision, and delivered a home that exceeded our expectations. The quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail are second to none. We couldn’t be happier with our new home and would absolutely recommend Mavillino Homes to anyone looking to build their dream home.”

Thank you, John & Deitra, for trusting us with one of life’s biggest investments. It was truly a privilege to build your dream home, and we wish you many years of happiness making memories there.
