Please always check your email to make sure you are getting updates from Pentair when their systems go down - instead of going into total freakout mode. I mean we can all freak out, but let's freak out over something way more fun! 😂 We have noticed Pentair has upped their communication and sending out more emails this season - it’s worth keeping tabs on!

You know - we needed all the feels this am (it was a day yesterday lol). We found a baby bird under the tailgate of the truck while doing a liner replacement. The team got the little fella to safety and the home owner made a makeshift nest near its nest (which was not accessible) in hopes mom will find him and take care of him. At least he’s safer for right now! Under the tailgate was not safe.

POOL OWNER WARNING: IT HAS BEGUN… I SAW IT FIRST HAND,…. It wasn’t pretty.

“The Cottonwood Invasion” has officially arrived.(Nature’s version of fake snow… except sticky, gross, and determined to ruin your day.)

That fluffy little cloud of evil can quickly turn your skimmer basket into a solid cottonwood brick - blocking water flow and making your pool system work way harder than it wants to.

✔️ Check those skimmer baskets DAILY
✔️ Scrape the cottonwood out (your nails become tools this time of year - I hate that part the most)
✔️ Don’t let it build up and sneak its way into your pump check the blowers at all time.

Trust us… cottonwood season is one of those "ignore it today, regret it tomorrow"

Honestly, last week was remarkably intense. We were all on autopilot, making certain that everyone was ready for the holiday. Sometimes, we even question our own rationale for undertaking such challenges - and then we receive this - and our hearts melt into a small puddle of pool water lol

It’s going to be very important to watch the water level in your pools. I’ve already been to a couple pools where the water level is way above the skimmer and their system isn’t functioning properly. If you cannot drain water through your system having a submersible pump on hand is your best friend. They are 49-55 on Amazon and can also be found at Menards, Home Depot and Lowe’s. Placing this on your stop step to drain water (get a hose to fit it to run the water away from the pool) can help! We do not have the capacity to drain pools right now, but having this on hand can help.

**Heavy Weekend Rainfall Chances Increasing**

The set-up for heavy rain to start Memorial Day Weekend is starting to look more likely across Ohio.

How much rain? Over 1" is very possible for much of the state and totals near 2" will be possible, especially in parts of central and eastern Ohio. I've seen this type of set-up before. When you not only have Gulf moisture but also a Pacific connection and some from the Atlantic -- expect heavier rainfall than data shows.

TIMING: Heavy rain begins by late Friday but more likely overnight and Saturday morning will have the heaviest rain. But it will take quite some time to dry out from this latest round of rain. Ugh.

We were able to get this pool ready for his son’s graduation party as he opened early May. They are ready to celebrate! Congratulations to the Wielgopolski family, to my son Xavier (who you will see in Daudelin gear next week) to the Perrysburg graduating class and to all the 2026 graduates in our area. “Time to dive into the deep end of life! Your future is crystal clear. Keep shining, just keep swimming, but most importantly - keep dreaming!”

Maybe this is a good sign the cold snap is ending and we can get to swim season soon!!! This cold has been ridiculous! If you are losing water it definitely can be from evaporation overnight. With the cold cold lows at night even if you aren’t heating, your water temp is still warmer than the outside air when it dips low. I know a lot of you are in panic mode you might have a leak. Just hang in there and let’s get to normal temps - then reevaluate!!!

Is it OK to plant now? YES, YES, YES, YES!

Wonder what your heater looks like inside? Check this picture out! Here’s a quick, easy guide to what those codes actually mean. A little knowledge goes a long way in keeping your pool running smoothly.

Common Pentair Heater Codes Explained:
• PS – Pressure Switch
• HLS – High Limit Switch
• AFS – Airflow Switch
• IGN – Ignition Failure
• AGS – Water temp has hit 140° and buttons are disabled
• SFS – Stack Flue Sensor (temp has exceeded 480°)
• E01 / E126 – Malfunctioning thermistor
• E05 – Stack flue is open and exhaust is above 176°
• E06 – Stack flue shorted out
• R13 – Part of the normal startup routine (no need to panic)
• R14 – System is checking itself for issues
