I’ve had a terrible time trying to get fun fact Friday going and it’s frustrating for me. I really want to be consistent with this because, one, it’s fun to learn corky facts, but also informative for people and will help others to understand the difference in pests and beneficial pollinators. So thank you for hanging in there with me.

This week we are throwing out some information on Monarch butterflies (Danaus Plexippus). We were blessed enough to capture some stages on our back porch the last couple of weeks. Xander also got to witness the metamorphosis in nature (He noticed and captured the first picture, as the caterpillar 🐛 began its chrysalis change)

There are 4 stages of the life cycle.

1.) Egg stage: Adult butterflies lay eggs on milkweed plants. Typically they lay between 300-500 eggs but it can range from 100 up to 700 spread out over a few weeks time span.
Usually only one egg is placed per milkweed, to ensure there is enough food supply for the caterpillar when it hatches. (Eggs hatch in 3-5 days)

2.) Larva stage (Caterpillar): It’s only job is to eat and grow for about two weeks.

FUN FACT: Milkweed makes the caterpillar toxic to birds and other animals.

3.) Pupa stage (Chrysalis): caterpillar forms a green shell with gold spots where it continues metamorphosis over 10-14 days.

4.) Adult (Butterfly): Emerges to drink flower nectar, lives about 2-5 weeks, laying eggs for the next generation.

Migrating generations live 6-9 months. When migrating between North America and central Mexico, butterflies can fly up-to 3000 miles. It can take 4 generations to do one road trip migration.

We love these guys! Plant milkweed!

Good morning! We have some exciting news to share. Another one of our kids has PASSED and now has his certification to join the team! Congratulations, Ryan!

I’m going to make several posts today. Some fun, some informative, some just interesting.

So much is on my mind.

We have been extremely busy. Definitely trying our best to get this business running smoothly and efficiently. We were behind before we ever got the go ahead and it’s been a struggle to get to everyone, BUT we are adding more teams so we will be caught up with everyone soon.
I’m so extremely grateful for our clients. They are both understanding of the switch up, and so supportive of us going forward. YOUR SUPPORT MEANS SO MUCH TO US!!!!
I cannot express how proud I am of all my kids, who have stepped up to help make this business a huge success story (we know it won’t happen overnight but it definitely is happening).

On the family side; Nova started kindergarten last week 🥹 While it was a very emotional week for her “adults” Nova did AMAZING!!! She is making new friends and loving learning new things. (So thankful for acorns and oaks private school system)

Xan was accepted into St. Pat’s so he will be starting 4th grade in a couple weeks. New school, but we feel like this is the best opportunity for him, and he is excited to meet new friends and “play sports” in Perry.

Jr. Is just loving life. He is growing, walking, talking, signing, and dancing his little heart out daily.

I know some of you are wondering how I am doing (iykyk) you know I did everything I did to stay busy for a reason.
We are fast approaching one year since our worlds blew up for the 2nd time within a one year period. I don’t know how that year has passed so quickly but I still cry every day. I can’t explain the pain you feel when losing a child but it changes you in ways that can never return… I just want to hug them. I wish I had a Time Machine to go back to fix things before they went so far. I know that is unrealistic but I still wish it. I still don’t know the truth of those days but my mind replays so many scenarios.

What I do know is I SUCK AT SEEING SIGNS!!!! (We had another very scary time a few weeks back because I missed the ball again 😢) We talk about su***de ALOT in our family. What to do if you get intrusive thoughts, who to reach out to if you feel like you can’t go on, regulation tricks to calm your mind and body, all the stuff BUT even doing that I still miss the signs. I wish more than anything I could see the signs!!!!! I want the opportunity to convince them to stay!

So, if you are reading to this point PLEASE know life IS hard, but it IS worth fighting to stay!!!!! The world is better because you are here 💛

Tonight, somewhere between the tomatoes and the fence line, a sparkle will assemble itself.

That's the actual term — a group of fireflies is called a sparkle, and it might be the most honest collective noun in the English language. They're not flies at all, but beetles, running the most efficient light show on Earth: nearly 100% of the energy in that glow becomes light, almost none of it heat. A lightbulb should be so lucky.

Every blinking pattern you see is a conversation — each species flashes its own code, males signaling from the air, females answering from the grass.

August is their grand finale, so the show outside your window is worth the price of standing still for five minutes.

Isn’t it beautiful?!?!? I know the wasp that were living inside of it were NOT nice neighbors, but they built a gorgeous home in a short period of time.

Shoutout to Misfits & More for the amazing suit!!! Seriously, perfect. (I need another one 😂)

Patience got to help tonight, she is typically the hidden helper. She helps make calls and send messages. Also she helps with invoices and billing.

Tonight while in 🐊 she turned on the powder machine and ran. 😂

After about a 20 minute break, we reapplied powder one more time.

I made sure there were no more wasp falling out, set up a ladder, climbed up and shook it to get any remaining wasp inside to fall. ThenI trimmed it off and wrapped it.

Job well done 💛 thanks Pati
