In July, all APS customers will be forced onto a new rate plan that includes a demand fee. The demand fee is going to look at a 1 hour window of when you used the most power and you'll get charged a fee on that. Imagine your APS bill right now with an extra $100-$200 fee added on top of that. This is happening because APS is losing $740,000 per day due to rooftop solar. After this new rate plan goes into effect, it wouldn't make sense to go solar because the rate plan will kill the savings for solar. People will need to go solar before the deadline in July to lock in a cheaper rate plan and protect yourself for 20 years from APS's new rate plans/increases.
