HURRICANE PREPARATION: DON'T FORGET YOUR A/C!
With a hurricane heading our way, I wanted to share a few quick tips to help protect your A/C system before the storm gets here.
Before the storm:
- Turn your thermostat down a few degrees to get your house nice and cool before the power goes out.
- Turn your A/C off before the storm arrives.
- If power becomes unstable, turn off your A/C and, if it's safe to do so, turn off the HVAC breaker to help protect your equipment from electrical issues.
- Secure patio furniture and anything else that could get blown into your outdoor unit.
After the storm:
- Check your outdoor unit for debris, flooding or visible damage before turning your system back on.
- If your unit was underwater or electrical components got wet, leave it off and have it inspected by an HVAC technician.
One more tip: If the power goes out, keep your doors and windows closed as much as possible. This will help your home stay cooler longer.
We know hurricane season can be stressful, and we want everyone to be safe. Take care of your family, check on your neighbors, and please don't take unnecessary risks trying to protect your equipment.
Once we know our team is safe after the storm, Hugh's Air Repair will do everything we can to help our community with HVAC issues.
Stay safe, Pensacola. Your family comes first.
