Good morning fellow flower friends. Thought I would give an update on the upcoming tulips season, as it’s quickly approaching go time! The tulips are looking great so far, green and purple leaves are poking up from the soil, slightly at a slower pace as compared to last year due to the cold Indiana temps we’ve had this winter. We had lots of snow compared to some of our prior winters. Honestly I would rather have snow than extreme cold with no snow as snow is an excellent insulator for plants! So far they all look great and are progressing nicely.
Tulips can be fickle and persnickety. They need weeks of consistently cold temperatures , water throughout winter, and are notorious for fungal issues that can spread from tulip to tulip in the blink of an eye. So many factors are out of my control, as Mother Nature is truly the boss around here. Tulips are a pretty big gamble, not only financially but for all the man hours I put in, from planting in the fall, till blooming the following spring. Every year I say, “think I’ll pass on tulips for next year” and every year I find myself poking around my vendors website hitting “add to cart” over and over. I’m a sucker for a beautiful tulip, I just can’t resist. 🥰
I’ll be sure and keep you posted on their availability through our social media pages. It’s been a long cold Indiana winter, I’m looking forward to seeing you all enjoy a little color in your lives as tulips seem to put a smile on so many faces. See you soon!
Best regards
Tracy
