Recently we considered offering kits with 14’ bays using 2x8 Perlins. The reason we will not be offering that is because the trusses are not engineered for this. Especially not the thin 2x2x3/16 trusses. Even our 2x2x1/4” trusses are not engineered for that span. The 2x8’s do not add strength to the trusses. If anything, they add more weight and stress to the trusses. Our concern is that if we built that way and you suffered a storm, that your insurance would likely say you exceeded the span that the trusses are rated for, and therefore not honor your claim.
There are standards and codes for a good reason.

We are in Eatonton this morning installing this 40x40x14 pole barn for John! As always these are on 8x8 posts with 2x2x1/4 trusses.
We use grade 8 hardware to assemble our trusses and always have a 4/12 roof pitch.
No 3/12 trusses
No 3/16 steel
No weaker truss hardware
Never 👎 installed on a 6x6
Build it to last!

This is only the first part of this build. This is another full enclosure that is getting many windows, an entry door and some very attractive glass composite double door units. There is much much more going into this build, but we will let that be a surprise.

If you are considering an enclosed pole barn from us now is the time to make plans for 2027! We have so many of these to enclose that we are only excepting orders for open sided pole barns until the end of 2026.
If you are in need of an open pole barn get in touch! We are still filling the calendar with those orders throughout 2026! Fall & winter is the best time to get these installed. Waiting until Spring & Summer means being on a list with many others that we always have to install. Thank you for all the awesome customers!
