I had so much fun creating these arrangements with flowers and greenery grown right here in my backyard! Each one was a little different, and I loved how they all turned out!

I'm soaking up every last bloom before my fall garden winds down for the season! 🧡

This cheerful arrangement is full of garden-grown zinnias, gomphrena, goldenrod, and some beautiful burgundy foliage. I love mixing all these bright, happy colors together, especially in this fun hand-painted Day of the Dead pot!

My fall garden may be winding down, but it's certainly going out with a splash of color! 🌸

Hoping for a few more arrangements this week before I turn my attention completely over to my winter and spring garden.

Let's have a little garden fun!

I've been busy starting seeds for my winter and spring garden, and I thought it would be fun to put your flower knowledge to the test!

This will also be a fun way to give you a sneak peek at what's growing behind the scenes at Meg's Backyard Blooms! I've got some wonderful returning favorites this season, along with a few exciting new additions! 🌸

Every week or so, I'll share a new seedling for you to guess. You'll get to follow along as these tiny plants grow into the beautiful flowers that will eventually fill my bouquets! 💐

🌼 Goldenrod: The Misunderstood Fall Flower! 🌼

Let's talk about one of my favorite fall fillers—Goldenrod (Solidago)!

You've probably seen this beautiful golden-yellow wildflower blooming along roadsides and in fields throughout Texas. But did you know it's also a wonderful cut flower? 💛

Goldenrod adds beautiful texture and movement to floral arrangements. I love using it fresh, but it also dries beautifully!

🌼 Let's bust a common myth!

Goldenrod gets blamed for seasonal allergies, but it's usually ragw**d that's the culprit! Ragw**d releases lightweight, windborne pollen, while goldenrod's heavier, sticky pollen is primarily carried by insects.

Poor goldenrod has been getting blamed for ragw**d's bad behavior for years! 😂

🐝 A Pollinator Powerhouse! 🦋

Goldenrod is one of the most valuable late-season wildflowers for pollinators! As summer flowers fade, it provides an important source of nectar and pollen for bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects.

It's especially valuable to migrating monarch butterflies, providing nectar to help fuel their long journey south. Even after blooming, its stems can provide overwintering habitat for beneficial insects!

So next time you see goldenrod growing wild, remember it's much more than a roadside w**d. It's a beautiful flower that plays an important role in our ecosystem! 💛🌿

🎃🍂 THE LAST TWO OF 2026! 🍂🎃

That's a wrap on my dried flower pumpkins for the season! I have just TWO remaining, and I won't be making any more this year!
Each pumpkin is filled with a colorful mix of flowers grown and dried right here in my backyard. 🌸💜

✨ A little note about dried flowers: While dried flowers don't last forever and some fading is expected over time, with proper care these beauties can be enjoyed for multiple fall seasons! They are intended for indoor display and should be kept away from moisture, humidity, and direct sunlight.

🌸 A Little Garden Update from Meg’s Backyard Blooms! 🌸

As we head further into October, I wanted to share a little update on what's happening in my garden!

This long stretch of heat and very little rain has really taken a toll on my plants. Even with all the rain in our area last week, my house received practically nothing! Just a couple of showers that barely wet the ground. I honestly can't remember the last good, soaking rain we've had. Everything is so dry that I've even been watering my foundation! 😅 And while I've been keeping my garden watered, there's just no replacing a good rain from Mother Nature! Those of you in Shadow Creek probably feel my pain!

Unfortunately, that's part of gardening. Sometimes Mother Nature has other plans! 🌿
Many of my plants are now declining, and while they're still producing some flowers, they're not all producing the quality of blooms I want in my arrangements. I still have a handful of plants giving me beautiful flowers, just not nearly as many!

Because of this, I will no longer be accepting custom fresh flower orders for the remainder of the season. All orders already scheduled for next week will still be fulfilled! ❤️

But the flowers aren't finished just yet! 💐
I'll continue harvesting and creating arrangements as my garden allows through Halloween. They'll simply be smaller, less frequent drops, and I'll post what's available as I have it!

🌱 Now for the exciting part!

I've been busy sowing LOTS of flowers throughout September and October, and I'm still not finished! I'm working hard toward an earlier start next season, with some exciting new flower varieties and hopefully even fresh blooms around Valentine's Day 2027! ❤️ Of course, that's weather dependent, but I'm really trying to make it happen!

And don't worry, you won't stop hearing from me over the winter! I'll still be sharing garden updates, growing tips, and some dried flower creations along the way. You'll get to follow the progress of everything growing for spring, and trust me, I'll let you know as soon as those first fresh blooms arrive!

My favorite arrangement of the fall. 🍂🌻

This beauty was made for one of my lovely repeat customers who is having a party this weekend.

She told me the party was a good excuse to order flowers… but admitted the flowers were really for her. 😂 And honestly, I fully support that.

I had so much fun filling this gorgeous fall pitcher with what the garden is giving me right now — warm oranges, deep w**e, golden yellows, soft neutrals, and all those beautiful fall textures.

There is something extra special about creating a big, overflowing arrangement almost entirely from flowers and foliage growing right here in my backyard. This one was hard to let go of. 🧡

I hope it brings a little extra beauty to her home this weekend — party or no party. 😉

Flowers are the invitation.
Nature is the teacher.
Healing is the outcome. 🌿
