Yes — fall is actually one of the best times to lay sod, especially in our area.

Here’s why:
✅• Cooler temperatures: Sod won’t dry out as quickly as it does in the summer heat, making it easier to keep moist.
✅• Less w**d competition: Fall w**ds aren’t as aggressive, so the sod establishes without as much competition.
✅• Root development: Grass puts more energy into root growth in the fall, which helps it establish a strong foundation before winter and the onset of summer droughts.
✅• Soil conditions: Fall usually brings more rain and softer soil, making it easier to prep and maintain proper moisture to allow for better acclimation.

Treat NOW to prevent the OW! Now is the time to treat your lawn to prevent lawn burw**d aka “stickers” from becoming a problem in your yard!

This w**d starts growing in the FALL, but doesn’t become a nuisance until it’s fully matured in the SPRING. When temperatures rise, these w**ds form prickly spines, or “stickers,” which they are more commonly known as.

By planning ahead and treating them in the fall with a preemergence herbicide, you can eliminate them altogether.
