We are in July now and the heat has kicked in. How well is your irrigation working?

Now is the time to check your irrigation to make sure it works properly and properly covers your turf and plants.

Don’t wait until things are brown and dying to realize there is a problem. In most cases that will be too late or take a long time for the turf or plant to recover.

The best time to water your lawn is between 4am -7am at least 2 times a week. You want to achieve 1” - 1.5” of water over a 7 day period for superior health.

Use the tuna can or solo cup method for testing how long it takes to get you an inch of water.

Strategically place cans or cups around your landscape and let your system run a full cycle. How much water do you have in the can or cup? Use a ruler to measure.
Multiply that amount by how many days a week you water and see if you are at an inch and adjust to achieve your goal.

Lawn applications are being applied and must be watered in to work properly. Don’t rely on the rain to provide your lawn the water it needs to look it’s best.
