Earlier this year our team installed a solar system at the new Nengbein Community School south of Ganta, up country in Liberia. This school is sponsored by Tricia Walker from southeast PA. During the dedication they also dedicated their new medical clinic.

This is the dedication where the community is celebrating in their native Mano language.

Another friend stopped by GHM today! Chip Pickering, of Pickering Energy Solutions, came to drop off 3 pallets' worth of rough sort supplies and meet with staff.

Chip has partnered with GHM for many years to install several solar projects across Liberia. We were very happy to have him stop by!

When hurricanes, wildfires and other disasters strike, communities are often left with critical needs for basics like food and shelter. You can be one of the first volunteers on the ground to help address these needs – as you provide comfort and help those impacted begin to recover.

We're pleased to announce our solar partnership with WVUP at the WVUP Innovation Center Campus in Vienna, WV. It's exciting to be part of the planning and development of the campus for the last several years, and the introduction of the solar power plant unlocked $60,000 in innovation and energy efficiency grants for development on the campus.

These systems will provide about 5% of the power utilized by the campus in a given year, and these two initial solar arrays are located on the roof of the innovative manufacturing and technology demonstration areas that are currently under construction.

As you can see if you examine the solar arrangement, the dual-facing orientation allows for the installation of a higher density of solar panels on a roof with a reduced ballast requirement, allowing for a lighter footprint on the roof. Additional areas of the buildings have been identified as a location for other solar resources and will be developed as the buildings are remodeled to support the additional programmed space and electrical loading.

Thanks to Appalachian Renewable Power for delivering the project of us in the midst of what will likely be the hottest summer on record. As climate change raises the average temperature and storms get stronger in our community, solar systems like this are one of the ways that we can build our buildings and live in a more sustainable manner while saving money on our energy costs.

Working with our Liberian team, we have a goal of getting all 87 of or solar systems refreshed and updated by the end of 2026. We're well along.

Additionally team provided power to the Fistula Camp on Phebe Hospital campus and also provided power extension to the Big Belly Clinic, where pregnant women in their final trimester go to get proper prenatal care and nourishment, very important prior to their birth process.

Neither of these facilities have had any power for years, and the solar power will provide them power at night and for electrical equipment, opening up new training opportunities.

Thanks, as always, to our teams at Brother's Brother Foundation, ARP Solar and Global Health Ministries for the support that makes this project, and all of our Liberia solar programs possible.

Wrapping up the Liberia trip and updating our database:

Started traveling to Liberia in 2006--this is 20th year.
First solar at clinics were in the communities of Botota (Boto's Town) and Naama in 2014.
87 Active clinics, orphanages and schools we are supporting.
271 installed kW in Liberia.
1,795,000 kW hours of power produced through 2026.
Conservative value of energy produced: $ 1,346,500 USD at $0.75/kwh small diesel generators.
Thousands of tons of CO2 avoided release into the atmosphere.

Then there's the lives that were saved because there were vaccines, light and power at the clinics when people came to deliver their children or seek medical attention--priceless.

Grateful to Willie & the team in Liberia and supporters in the US--Peirce Family Foundation, Brother's Brother Foundation, Global Health Ministries, tons of help from ARP Solar and all the un-named people that I hold in my heart. Thank you!

It takes a village. Thanks Team!
