Had a fun time with this little project - This carved figure came to us for repair from a wonderful client of ours - he's had it for years and years, and it needed some love to get it back together and looking good again. Sara, my antique division leader, took on the task and made the repairs, did the touch up and got it looking good. After looking it over, I realized that the staff that he was holding appeared to have had some thing on the end of it at one point in time so I did some research and found out that this carving was part of a German/Bavarian carving collection from the 40's and 50's, and this was the Nachtwächter, or Night Watchman

I also discovered it was missing a "halberd" ax head that had been lost at some point over the years. So I found a picture online of the exact carving and replicated the head to go on the staff, and then cut a couple of new pieces of glass for the lantern, antiqued the glass, and found a bulb that worked for the lantern. Overall, I think it turned out great, and I surprise the customer with it, he was not expecting that! Here's the before, and the after, I put him in a vintage German bar background. Hope you like it!

Custom built, solid birch loft bed for a young man’s Man Cave, where he can put his desk, computer and other room pieces underneath without sacrificing other floor space. 4x4 solid legs, over-engineered for the highest safety, a solid hand crafted flat rung ladder to get in and out, and clear coated in high grade WB poly to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. I haven’t posted much this year so far, despite the numerous projects we’ve completed and those that are still in the works! Between our regular projects, Sara’s antique restorations (see other posts) and some commercial projects ramping up, we have stayed busy!

Good morning everyone, happy Saturday and holy cow we are into June already!!

I have lots of projects to show off that we’ve been working on over the last couple of months, but first, this post is dedicated to my incredibly talented wife, Sara, who has officially blown our consigned antique restoration projects out of the water! These latest pieces are absolutely stunning!

A couple of months back, a client came to us with two vintage 1930’s art-deco pieces, a 5 drawer dresser and a small nightstand, waterfall edge tops, book matched African mahogany and walnut veneers, and Bakelite handles and pulls. Both had sustained heavy water damage and decades of wear and tear, and needed a complete overhaul. Sara jumped right on it, and used her skills and talent to transform the pieces, bring them back to their original beauty, and give them new life!

Check out what she started with and the end result, absolutely unbelievable, and the the customer was ecstatic! So if you have antiques that need restoring, Sara is your gal for the job!

My wonderful wife, Sara Dickey, has absolutely NAILED multiple antique restoration projects in recent weeks! We have had a number of pieces pass through our shop, some with minor cosmetic damage and others with some major fixes needed, but her dedication and attention to detail has proven to be a tremendous asset to our shop. Just check out these pictures below, before and after. I have added a cool AI background but the pieces speak for themselves! From pieces dating back to the mid 1800’s to the 1950’s an 60’s, Victorian to Mid-Century Modern, she’s really done some amazing things!!

If you have furniture pieces you would like restored, please let us know and we can bring them back to life! And Sara gets

Hello friends! Just have to say WHAT is up with this weather?? Beautiful and warm, turning into more snow than forecasted today, and then into the mid 90's by next weekend! IN MARCH! I sure do hope we get some more moisture or it's going to be a harsh summer!

Anyway, spring break is upon us all of a sudden, and though we won't be off to Paris or Fiji this week, we will be working on projects in the shop! 😉. With that said, we'd like to offer a spring break 10% off deal for this week only, on your projects!

Almost 60 degrees on the first day of February?? I’ll take it! 🤗

Heres our latest creation in the new Looking Glass neighborhood! I spent a lot of time getting all the fine details worked out with the client, down to the perfect color! We affectionately nicknamed it “Rose-Gold” at the shop, and combined with the antique brass hardware, this beauty is complete. My camera wasn’t cooperating but the set of laundry room cabinets match as well, giving our client extra space for storage. Enjoy!

Hello friends! I’ve been keeping this one under wraps until it was completely finished, but I’m excited to share a giant commercial project that we’ve been working on for the last 4 months!

The new Jack’s Grill in Lone Tree/Park Meadows opened its doors to the public on Wednesday, and are serving lunch and dinner every day, as well as brunch on the weekends. I can tell you firsthand the food and service are amazing! My awesome team and I enjoyed a well earned dinner there this last week.

I took hundreds of photos of the process but here are just a few - we were initially invited to do all of the stained woodwork on the exterior of the restaurant, all the beams and corbels and pillars, and from there we did a bunch of finish trim inside the restaurant as well, to include decorative finish trim at both bars, booths, and more.

This was a great experience for the C&S Team, as Aubrey and I spent hundreds of hours on site, most of it up in the air on boom lifts and ladders, and Steve and Sara fabricated all the trim work that was needed inside. A total group effort! (The lifts were fun, many times being 50 feet off the ground hanging over Yosemite Street!)

Special thanks and shout out to Frontline Construction in Centennial and their site supers and foremen for pulling it all together. Made some great relationships for future work together!

Happy New Year, friends and followers of the C&S Toolworks family! We made it through another year! 2025 was definitely a year for the books, full of ups and downs, but we had another strong year of projects, wonderful customers and new adventures in custom woodworking.

Grab a cup and scroll through some pics of this year's projects. We had quite a variety, from our normal barn doors, shelving and beams, to custom bookcases, furniture pieces (including a very special one made by Sara!) and lots of antique furniture repair and restoration! The website will be updated soon with all of those pictures, and we have another major project that I'm excited to unveil this next weekend once we are officially done, so standby for that.
