That’s a wrap on this round of Ridge Roots!

6 hazardous trees on 4 properties across 2 days.
We mitigated serious hazards threatening homes, families and a local church.

And now we'd like to challenge our fellow Ridge businesses: What can you do with your trade, your skills or your resources to help someone in our community?

It doesn't have to be huge. Just find a need you can fill and do what you do best. Let's see what kind of ripple we can create.

This was tree #1 for this round's Ridge Roots Project. This large oak tree had a significant failure due to summer limb drop.
Because of how the large limb peeled, this tree was left structurally compromised and leaning toward a church in Paradise.
We were able to get it safely to the ground, mitigating a major hazard

We’ve selected our Ridge Roots projects for this round, and we’re actually adding a third one today.

We started with two projects that are serious threats to life and property. One is a completely dead fir threatening the home of a young family. The other is a massive dead pine uphill from a home that would have catastrophic consequences when it ultimately failed.

We had a lot of requests, and choosing is never easy. Ultimately, we felt like these were the places where we could make the biggest impact with the time and resources we have available.

Then we got a call about a local church here in Paradise. They recently had a large tree failure that left the remaining oak compromised and threatening the church. We may be able to get that one taken care of as early as this afternoon, so we’ve decided to add it to this round too.

That makes three Ridge Roots projects this time around, all at no cost to the people we’re helping.

This is exactly why we started Ridge Roots. We have the crew, the equipment and the ability to fix some pretty big problems for people in our community, and sometimes we get the opportunity to put all of that to good use simply because someone needs help.

We’ll share photos tomorrow.

Can anybody cut down a tree? Maybe. Does that mean it’s going to go where it’s supposed to? Definitely not.

Today we were called out on an emergency job after someone attempted to fall a tree and it went completely over backwards from where they intended it to go. In the process, it damaged two neighboring trees and a different neighbor’s fence. We were called in afterward to safely deal with what was left and get the situation under control.

We understand that professional tree work can be expensive. But what you’re paying for is years of experience, training and the proper equipment to get that tree where it’s supposed to go. Because in tree work, even a small mistake can have catastrophic consequences. Thank goodness no one was hurt.

When you’re getting prices for tree work, it’s a good idea to look at more than just the bottom-line number. Ask about experience, equipment, licensing, and insurance.

I PROMISE you, it’s less expensive to do it right than it is to do it cheap.

Part 3 with Amanda. Continuing the explanation of what trees would need removing. All Things Trees prides themselves of saving every tree they can. However there are sure signs of a non-viable tree that is hazardous around public structures. She explains why this tree would need to be removed.
