💦 Your pool may look perfect on the outside… but what’s protecting it underneath? Gunite is incredibly strong, but it is not naturally waterproof.

Waterproofing your pool isn’t just an extra step— it’s an important part of protecting your investment. Here at PTX, we do this to every single pool we build.

Here’s what it helps do:

✔️ Reduces water migration through the shell
✔️ Preserves embedded steel reinforcement from internal corrosion
✔️ Reduces the potential for efflorescence and moisture-related issues and leaks
✔️ Provides an added layer of protection beneath the pool’s interior finish while also increasing the strength of the gunite
✔️ Protects rebar: It helps preserve embedded steel reinforcement from internal corrosion
✔️Prevents plaster failure: It reduces peeling, cracking, and loss of bond between the concrete shell and interior plaster or pebble finishes.
✔️Stops chemical degradation: It retards alkali-silica reactivity that causes concrete to break down over time.
✔️Improves durability and the overall life of the pool: It increases thermal and freeze-thaw resistance.

Because what’s underneath matters just as much as what you see. 🌴

When you’re investing in a custom pool, make sure you’re investing in the protection behind it, too.

🌴HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BUILD A POOL?

One of the questions we hear all the time! 🤓

While every project is different, a typical custom pool can take 6-15 weeks to build once construction begins.

The timeline can depend on:
• Pool size & design
• Features like spas, waterfalls or grottos
• Outdoor kitchens and structures
• Tile and finish selections
• Weather
• Site conditions
• Inspections & permitting

And remember—there’s also time needed for design, permitting and scheduling before construction even starts.

Thinking about having a pool ready for next summer?☀️
