We posted about this a few years ago, but felt it was important to revisit.
Please take note if you own or rent a home, apartment, etc:
This bathroom exhaust fan sparked and we were called out to check it out and change it out. Upon arrival, multiple fire trucks pulled up too. The bathroom exhaust fan exploded and caught the house on fire! Luckily, it was caught in time, but still did significant fire and smoke damage.
● From the firefighter: we see this all the time where people just leave these running and they are not made to continually run. They can overheat and catch fire! Happens all the time!
● From us: If your exhaust fans are old, dusty, or make noise, get them checked out or cleaned!! Adding a timer can be done too, as it's been said that they shouldn't run more than 20 minutes at a time to prevent overheating. We can do this!!
