As our community begins the cleanup and rebuilding process following the storm, JMHK Homes wants to remind homeowners to be cautious about who they hire for repairs.

Unfortunately, difficult times like these can bring out unlicensed contractors looking to take advantage of homeowners who need immediate help.

BEFORE HIRING ANY CONTRACTOR, ASK THESE QUESTIONS:

✅ Are you properly licensed to perform the work?

✅ Can you provide proof of general liability insurance?

✅ Do you carry workers’ compensation coverage for your employees, or have valid exemptions where permitted?

✅ Will you obtain the required permits and schedule inspections?

✅ Can I verify your license and insurance information?

KNOW WHAT WORK REQUIRES A LICENSE!

Depending on the scope of repairs, licensed contractors or specialty trades may be required for:

🔹 Structural repairs and framing

🔹 Exterior walls and siding replacement

🔹 Window and exterior door replacement

🔹 Roofing repairs and replacement

🔹 Decks and structural additions

🔹 Electrical repairs

🔹 Plumbing repairs

🔹 And other regulated construction work

Remember: Many of these repairs also require permits and inspections through your local building department. Storm damage does not automatically eliminate permitting requirements.

NEW FRONT DOOR ALERT!!

The transformation on this home just keeps going!

We removed the original front door with sidelights, opened everything up, and installed this beautiful new set of double entry doors. What a difference already and we’re not finished yet!

Now comes the big question…

Remember our Hardie exterior project?

When we posted the progress photos, we asked if anyone noticed something was missing…

Well, if you guessed THE CHIMNEY, you were right!

Here’s why. (Old, leaking, not functional and taking up space).

What started on the exterior turned into removing the old fireplace and chimney completely. We opened everything up, removed the fireplace and venting, took the chimney out through the roof, repaired the roof and shingles, insulated the exterior wall, then closed everything back in with new drywall.

And check out that finished product!
No fireplace. No chimney. Just a clean, finished wall with the TV relocated and a whole lot more usable space inside, while outside, you’d never know the chimney was ever there.

Sometimes the biggest transformation is what’s no longer there.

🏈 Pace Patriots Senior Night!

JMHK Homes was proud to sponsor the coin toss for the Pace Patriots Senior Night game!

Making it even more special, Jacob Knoth had the honor of flipping the coin with his son, #27, representing Pace on the field, the Patriots elected to take the ball to start the game… and they wasted NO time putting that decision to work!

Just TWO plays later……. TOUCHDOWN PACE!

PROJECT UPDATE

WHAT A TRANSFORMATION!

Remember this one? We stripped off the old vinyl siding, removed the old insulation, upgraded the home with spray foam, made the necessary repairs, and wrapped it all in new Hardie® board & batten siding.

Well… take a look at it now!

The siding is complete, everything has been caulked, prepped, sanded and painted, and the clean white exterior with the black accents completely changed the look of this home.

And we’re not quite finished yet! We’ve also got a new front door coming that will be delivered soon and installed to put another finishing touch on this transformation.

These are the projects we love, taking an existing home, improving what’s behind the walls AND giving the outside an entirely new look.
