POV: you escape 100° Mississippi for a long weekend… and then have to come home. 😂

Lake Tahoe, you were very good to us. 🏔️💙

A few days of cool air, beautiful views and doing absolutely nothing lawn-related. Now we’re back home, back to work…and apparently back inside the oven. 🥵🌱

Worth it.

PLANT SPOTLIGHT 💜 American Beautyberry

One of our favorite signs that fall is getting close! American Beautyberry (Callicarpa americana) spends much of the year quietly blending into the landscape — and then late summer arrives and it does THIS. 💜

Those incredible clusters of bright purple berries grow right along the stems and provide food for birds and other wildlife as we head into fall and winter.

We have beautyberry tucked throughout our own landscape, and this time of year it definitely earns its keep. Native, easygoing and absolutely beautiful. 💜🌿

Sometimes the best plants are the ones that save their show for the end of summer.

Anyone need a little orange girl in their life? 🧡🐱

This sweet girl apparently decided she wanted a career in lawn care and hitched a ride home on one of our mowing trucks earlier this summer. 😂 She’s been hanging around with us ever since, but we’d love to find her a wonderful forever home.

She’s female - which makes her a little extra special since most orange cats are boys! She has been spayed and had her rabies vaccination, so she’s ready for her next adventure.

She’s a sweet little thing and obviously has excellent taste in transportation. 🧡

If you think she might belong at your house, send me a message. And please share - we’d love to find just the right home for our little Freeman Lawn stowaway. 🌿🐾

Sneaking in a little time away before September hits and mowing + football + fall porch season collide.

Then it’s back to Oxford and back to work! 💚

Seeing one of our fall porch transformations on the cover of Stroll Wellsgate will never get old.

Fall porch season is almost here… and we’re ready to do it all over again. 🍂🧡

I still remember the day his father passed away. Norway was in mourning, and many of us wondered whether his son, King Harald, would ever be able to fill his shoes. I was one of them. I thought the shy, reserved Harald simply didn’t have his father’s personality.

But I was wrong.

That shy King Harald became one of the world’s most caring, compassionate and open-minded monarchs. Whether you believe in monarchy or not, he came to embody so much of what Norway is proud to be.

Harald was the first heir to the Norwegian throne born in Norway in roughly 600 years. He was only three years old when Hi**er invaded Norway. After fleeing with his mother and sisters to Sweden, he spent most of the war years in the United States.

He was also the first future Norwegian king to marry a commoner. He fell in love with Sonja Haraldsen, but his father opposed the match. Harald finally told him that if he could not marry Sonja, he would never marry anyone at all. After nine years together, they were finally allowed to marry.

One of his greatest challenges as King came after the horrific events of July 22, 2011, when 77 innocent people were murdered in Oslo and on Utøya by a neo-Nazi terrorist whose name I still refuse to speak. King Harald’s words following that tragedy - and the sight of him grieving alongside his people - will forever be burned into our memories.

Then, in 2016, he delivered another speech that I believe will live on for generations. He reminded us that Norwegians come from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Poland, from Sweden, Somalia and Syria. That we believe in God, Allah, the universe - or nothing at all. And that Norway is made up of girls who love girls, boys who love boys, and girls and boys who love each other.

That was King Harald.

He understood that being Norwegian wasn’t about where you came from, who you loved or what you believed. It was about belonging.

He made me proud to be Norwegian.

You will be deeply missed, Harald, but I know your son will carry on your legacy.

Alt for Norge. 🇳🇴♥️

Turns out we didn’t need a bigger garden. we just needed to completely lose control of the one we had. 😂🌸

A little before & after of what happens when “we’ll just plant a few flowers” gets wildly out of hand.
