Looking for a Safety Manager.
Safety Manager Job Responsibilities:
The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive health and safety programs to safeguard employees, contractors, facilities, and the environment within the oil and gas industry. This role involves assessing risks, identifying potential hazards, and implementing effective safety strategies to prevent accidents, incidents, and occupational illnesses. Job responsibilities include, but not limited too;
Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety policies, procedures, and programs tailored to the unique risks and challenges of the oil and gas industry.
Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety considerations into all operational processes.
Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards, evaluate associated risks, and recommend appropriate control measures.
Implement risk reduction strategies through engineering controls, administrative measures, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Organize and deliver safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors, focusing on safe work practices, emergency response, and the proper use of equipment.
Promote a culture of safety consciousness by raising awareness and providing resources to enhance safety knowledge.
Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, near misses, and safety violations to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
Develop and implement corrective and preventive action plans based on investigation findings.
Develop and maintain emergency response plans, ensuring all personnel are aware of procedures and roles during emergencies such as fires, chemical spills, or natural disasters.
Conduct regular drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency plans.
Stay current with local, regional, and international safety regulations and standards relevant to the oil and gas industry.
Ensure all operations and facilities are compliant with applicable safety laws and regulations.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work areas to identify potential hazards and deviations from safety standards.
Prepare and communicate audit reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
Compile and analyze safety data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and potential areas of concern.
Generate and present comprehensive safety reports to management, highlighting key performance indicators and progress.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in facilitating New Hire Orientation Training.
• Assist in the coaching, mentoring and implementation of the HSE programs in the field.
• Report incidents immediately to the Safety and HR departments and completes proper paperwork, (i.e. witness statements, employee reports of injury, etc.)
• Assist Safety in verifying field-staff training and competencies; consult the Director of Safety and VP of Safety for compliance and action plan.
• Coordinate and participate in safety meetings with the safety team to review issues, trends and upcoming conditions or events.
• Must be a team player who promotes a clean and safe work environment.
• Perform other duties and special projects as required.
Qualifications:
• Associate degree from a 2-year college or accredited business school
• Minimum 2 years experience in DOT Safety
• Special preference given to applicants with oilfield experience
• Knowledge of different types of field equipment (forklift, Backhoes, cranes, 4 axle flatbeds, etc.)
• Valid state driver's license and clean driving record
• Bilingual is a Plus
• The ability to demonstrate the application of risk assessment to company operations and activities.
