Did a pond clean out today and wanted to show the best natural filter a pond can have. Some call it a "patina"😉

It's a layer of sessile algae that grows all over everything under water forming a carpet of sorts.

This layer of algae harbors micro organisms that the fish will feed on as well as absorbing nutrients that would otherwise lead to poor water quality.

Not all agae is created equal and if you can establish this in your pond you will have crystal clear water.
