Hancock Woodwork began as an unexpected journey. For years, I worked as a software developer, spending long hours behind a desk. The work was steady and the paycheck was good, but I felt a growing desire for something more hands-on, more creative, something that would let me step away from the computer screen and onto my feet. In my downtime, I
would find myself drawn to woodworking videos on YouTube. It became a quiet obsession, watching craftsmen transform raw materials into beautiful creations. For the past decade, I had been dabbling in woodworking as a hobby, building custom furniture and taking on home improvement projects for family and friends. It was my creative outlet. Then, in 2023, a friend asked if I could build a set of cabinets. The project reignited my passion, and once it was complete, I realized I didn’t just want to build furniture on the side—I wanted to make it my life’s work. So I made a big shift. Instead of crafting software, I decided to craft with wood. Instead of coding programs, I would design and build furniture—tangible, lasting pieces that people could use and enjoy.
