Congratulations to Billy Pegler on his graduation from the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce leadership class of 2026!
21 students completed the program starting with an orientation at Fighter’s Heaven in Orwigsburg followed by ten (10) sessions covering various classroom and local industry tours.
Schuylkill Leadership, created in 1991, is a ten-session program dedicated to developing and nurturing leadership within Schuylkill County. The program focuses on identifying capable individuals and providing them with a formalized training program that introduces candidates to community programs and shares leadership concepts that prepare Leadership graduates for important roles in community.
Again, congratulations to Billy on this big achievement!

As we observe Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

Day 5: Moment of Silence

Today, we pause to honor the thousands of lives lost in work zone incidents, workers, drivers, passengers, pedestrians, law enforcement, and families forever impacted.

We invite you to join us in a moment of silence to remember those who never made it home.

Behind every orange cone is a person working to keep our roads safe and our country moving. Yet each year, nearly 900 lives are lost in work zone crashes, tragedies that are often preventable.

Let this moment be a reminder: slow down, stay alert, and make safe choices. Every decision behind the wheel matters.

Day 4: Social Media Storm

Today, we also want to highlight just how important it is to take extra precautions when traveling through work zones. Every year, thousands of crashes occur in these areas and far too many result in serious injuries or loss of life. These aren’t just statistics, they’re coworkers, friends, and families.

When you approach a work zone:
🚧 Slow down and follow posted speed limits
🚧 Stay alert and avoid distractions
🚧 Keep a safe distance between vehicles
🚧 Watch for workers and moving equipment

We all play a role in keeping our roads safe. Let’s do our part to protect not only ourselves, but the men and women working hard to improve our roadways every day.

Day 3: Go Orange Day

Today, we recognize and thank the dedicated highway workers who work every day to keep our roads, bridges, and highways safe.

In honor of Go Orange Day, we’re wearing orange to show our support for work zone safety and to remember those who have lost their lives. This day holds special meaning for the families affected by work zone tragedies.

On average, at least two lives are lost in work zones EVERY DAY. Let’s all do our part to make a difference! Slow down, keep a safe distance, stay alert for workers and pedestrians, allow extra space, and avoid distractions.

Day 2: National Kickoff Event

Today is Day 2 of ATSSA’s National Work Zone Awareness Week, an annual reminder that safe actions save lives! Did you know that over 100,000 crashes occur in work zones annually? Workers, commuters, and pedestrians are all affected. Let’s keep roadway workers and each other safe. Your actions behind the wheel can be forever. When you see the orange cones, it’s a sign to put down the phone and slow down. Because everyone deserves to make it home. We all have a responsibility to do our part to protect not only ourselves, but the roadway workers who are out there every day.

This week is National Work Zone Awareness Week. The mission is to save lives. Of the 899 people killed in work zone crashes in 2023, most were drivers, their passengers and pedestrians. This year’s message is “Safe actions save lives.” Join us in spreading the word to drive safely through roadway work zones.
Day 1: Work Zone Safety Training Day
At the start of every work week, we make safety a priority, but in recognition of National Work Zone Awareness Week, we took extra time to reinforce what matters most. Our team reviewed safety demonstrations, strengthened training in hazard recognition and fall protection, and had important conversations around job site risks, protective measures, and Heim’s safety policies, goals, and expectations.
