We rarely see a foundation failure that didn't involve moisture. This property was neglected and then abandoned due to lack of maintenance. The soil grading was such that it was actively channeling the surface runoff into the crawlspace, with predictable results. A small amount of preventative maintenance many years ago would have preserved much of the structure that now needs to be replaced.

Thankfully the new owners purchased it just in time and are making the necessary repairs prior to any major structural failures.

Stillwater Structures is working for the University of Maine at their new Morse Arena complex; performing steel framing, bolting, and metal deck special inspections.

While we do work all over New England, it's nice to have jobs that are 5 minutes away.

It's been nice seeing the Town of Penobscot post regular updates of the new box culvert that we designed for American Concrete Industries and Sargent Corp. We'd love to see more towns show off their ongoing infrastructure products in a similar manner as it's a great way to engage with their respective citizens and show the hard work that goes into maintaining that infrastructure.

It's Engineer's Week! During which we celebrate the accomplishments of engineers and encourage those studying to become engineers.

In that spirit, we're happy to announce our newest employee. Cory Gardner has joined our team as an engineering intern. Cory is a non-traditional engineering student at UMaine. With a master's degree in wildlife ecology and previous work with fishery ecology, Cory decided to go back to school for structural engineering and is near to completing his education. We're happy that Cory is joining us as an intern, and we hope to provide him valuable training and experience that he can apply to his new career going forward.
