The insurance restoration industry has been changing.

Anyone who’s been doing this for a while can see it.

Claims are being handled differently. Carriers are changing processes. Policies are changing. Homeowners are asking better questions. And the days of a contractor showing up, finding damage, and assuming there’s only one path forward are disappearing.

Honestly, that’s probably not a bad thing.

It means contractors have to get better.

We have to understand the property. Understand the damage. Understand the homeowner’s situation. Document things properly. Communicate better. Educate instead of just sell.

And sometimes we have to be willing to tell a homeowner that the solution they originally expected isn’t necessarily the best solution available to them.

Insurance restoration will always be an important part of what we do at Method, but our responsibility is bigger than trying to get every homeowner into the exact same process.

Maybe it’s an insurance claim.

Maybe it’s a repair.

Maybe it’s financing.

Maybe it’s a retail replacement.

Maybe it’s finding a way to extend the life of what they already have.

The job is to understand the problem and help the homeowner find the right solution.

The industry is changing.

We’re changing with it.

And I think the contractors who embrace that are going to be much better for it.
