Many Central Florida families rely on portable generators during power outages. But according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), portable generators are associated with 40% of carbon monoxide deaths related to consumer products. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports that around 100 people die annually from carbon monoxide poisoning linked to these devices.

TAKE IT OUTSIDE - Never run a generator indoors, in a garage, or near windows and doors. Carbon monoxide is odorless, colorless, and deadly.

As you prepare for hurricane season, make sure you know how to safely operate your generator. Keep it outside and away from your home. Stay safe out there!🏡
