Before you approve a full system replacement, ask: What specifically failed? Would repairing that part fix it? What happens if I wait a season? A contractor who is comfortable answering all three, slowly, is one worth trusting. That's the standard we hold our own techs to. RMI, if we can't fix it, no one can.

It's still hitting 90 most afternoons, so "Fall Maintenance" doesn't feel urgent yet. That is exactly why it is the easy time to get on our schedule. Systems that ran hard all summer are due for a check up!

After a storm knocks the power out, the AC restart is usually fine...it's the compressor taking a hard restart on unstable power that causes problems weeks later. If your system has been through a rough outage this season, it is worth a quick check before it becomes a bigger repair.

Your outdoor AC unit needs room to breathe!

A good rule of thumb is to keep at least 2–3 feet of clear space around your outdoor condenser. Shrubs, fences, leaves, and other debris too close to the unit can restrict airflow and make your system work harder.

Also, avoid placing anything directly over the unit that could block the hot air it’s trying to release.

A little breathing room can help your AC run more efficiently and may even help extend the life of your system.
