We just want to take a minute to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We are so very grateful for every single person who has supported The Hen Den of Oriental and continues to support us. Whether you stop by the egg stand, meet me there when I happen to be around, order chicks, buy honey, or have recently joined our egg delivery route, please know how much we appreciate you.

One of my absolute favorite parts of this little business is getting to meet so many wonderful people along the way. So many of you started out as customers and have become friends, and that means more to us than I can put into words.

I truly enjoy getting the chance to meet and talk with our customers when I can, and we are thankful every time someone pulls into that little egg stand.

Watching this little business continue to grow has been such a blessing, and it would not be possible without all of you who choose to support us.

To our longtime customers, our brand new customers, and everyone who has shared our posts, told a friend about us, or simply stopped by to buy a dozen eggs, thank you.

Right now, I am just feeling incredibly blessed and honestly a little overwhelmed with gratitude for all the love and support you have shown us.

We appreciate you more than you know, and we are truly blessed to have such a wonderful community supporting The Hen Den of Oriental.

A conversation with one of our egg customers today reminded me of something I think we all need to remember.

Many of you may not know that I live with rheumatoid arthritis.

RA is one of those invisible diseases. You can look perfectly fine on the outside while your joints hurt, your body is exhausted, and your mind is simply tired from dealing with pain.

Today, a simple conversation about chickens, compost, and farm life turned into a conversation with someone who also lives with RA. And there is something different about talking to someone who truly understands.

People with RA know what it means when you say you are tired. Not just sleepy. Tired in a way that can be hard to explain. Sometimes you even stop saying it because you worry people are tired of hearing it.

You never really know what someone else is carrying.

It might be the person delivering your eggs. It might be a small business owner. It might be the person working beside you every day. It might be a nurse taking care of you, a caregiver taking care of someone they love, or the stranger you pass in the grocery store.

I am incredibly grateful for my wife, Deara, who has stood beside me through the good days and the hard ones and has supported me through every up and down of this disease. I also know not everyone has that kind of support.

For a while now, I have tossed around the idea of starting a small rheumatoid arthritis support group here in Pamlico County. Nothing fancy. Just a place where people who truly understand could talk, listen, laugh, vent, encourage one another, and maybe feel a little less alone.

Because sometimes the greatest comfort is simply hearing someone say, “I know exactly what you mean.”

So this Wednesday, just remember to give people a little grace.

You never know what someone may be carrying that you cannot see.

Until next Wednesday, I hope your week is filled with a little extra kindness, a little grace, and a reminder that none of us ever truly knows what someone else may be carrying.

🥚 Egg Delivery is this Wednesday!

Make sure you get on our delivery route by Tuesday. You can sign up through our website at www.thehendenoforiental.com on the Egg Delivery page.

Eggs are $5 a dozen with a $3 delivery fee per stop.

We also have local honey available for delivery, and you can find it at The Hen Den egg stand too. 🍯

And we have some exciting news! 🍞

Starting next Wednesday, September 16, we will be adding fresh homemade sourdough bread to our delivery options and to the egg stand.

We are excited to be partnering with Memphis’s Pantry to bring you fresh baked sourdough for $13 a loaf.

Memphis has a culinary background, attended culinary school in Alamance County, and also cooks and bakes at Gretchen’s Bistro here in Oriental. She puts a lot of care into what she makes, and we are excited to be able to offer her sourdough alongside our eggs and local honey.

If you would like a loaf with your delivery, please let us know ahead of time so we can make sure one is reserved for you.

🐔🌈 A Little More Color Coming to The Hen Den of Oriental! 🌈🐔

Today we had the pleasure of meeting Chancey and Brittany from 4K Poultry Farm, and what a wonderful experience it was! ❤️

We’ve recently added quite a few brown egg layers to our flock, so while we have plenty of beautiful brown eggs, our rainbow eggs have been getting a little few and far between! 🥚🤎😂

So, we decided it was time to add some more COLOR! 🌈 Today we paid 4K Poultry Farm a visit and brought home some beautiful blue, green, and white egg layers. We’re so excited to see those colorful eggs making their way into our baskets!

Chancey and Brittany were incredibly hospitable, knowledgeable, and helpful, and it was easy to see how much love and care they put into their birds. Their chickens are absolutely beautiful, healthy, and well cared for! 🐓❤️

Hey Pamlico county I saw a post about an hour ago with someone in need of a cat 5 patch cable I believe he needed it for his boat . If someone know who he is let him know I have some at my house . I have not measure them but I may have something to help him out .
