This recent installation of tall fescue sod will be cared for with a complete organic fertility program to prevent nitrate leaching, and to foster the symbiotic relationship between plant roots and a healthy, productive soil. Weekly maintenance will take place with commercial-grade, zero-emissions equipment powered by our own solar energy. It’s proof of concept that waterfront homeowners can enjoy a lush turf if they wish, while also being environmentally responsible and protecting what they love (the water!)

“Why doesn’t the lawn look good this year?”

We used to ask ourselves this question too. At both of the houses we’ve lived in we’ve done major lawn renovations. It always felt impossible to keep it full and healthy year after year. What we’ve learned is that an unhealthy lawn means inadequate soil conditions - the pH is off, the root system is shallow, and/or there’s not enough nutrients to support proper grass growth (also why weeds and crabgrass pop up!)

This is why soil tests are imperative to successful turf care. Without one, it’s like a doctor trying to treat your ailment without a diagnosis. We can guess what the problem might be, we can hope something we’re doing will help, but without a diagnosis we can’t directly treat the problem.

These soil samples will serve as a blueprint for each of these property’s turf care this year. We can address specific areas of deficiency, balance the pH, and work towards creating optimal soil for full, healthy turf growth.

The Ecologix crew installed over 7,000 dormant beachgrass culms (Ammophila breviligulata) yesterday at our bluff stabilization project we began last fall in conjunction with Costello Marine.

Now that we have successfully stabilized the slope with deep-rooting, salt-tolerant grass and terracing, we will begin installing native grass and coastal woody natives indigenous to this (sometimes harsh!) environment.

It’s been a lot of work, but it’s rewarding to see the vision coming together! 🌾🌾🌾 🌾🌾

New solar & sunny skies ☀️ Did you know that, on average, in one year one gas-powered commercial mower produces as much pollution as 141 cars? We’ll never stop throwing that statistic out there.

Gas-powered lawn mowers don’t have catalytic converters, which means that they’re throwing ALL of their hazardous emissions from the exhaust out into the air. For landscaping companies that means hundreds, if not thousands, of hours per season of polluting the environment - an estimated 5% of pollution in the US results from lawnmower use. We didn’t want to be a part of that statistic anymore.

So here we are... state-of-the-art electric maintenance equipment, charged with solar power, zero gas, zero emissions, half the noise.
