Plumbing topic:
Natural or Propane Gas
BBQ, Firepits, Patio Heaters, Gas Lighting, ect.

I have been doing all sorts of crazy things with gas for a very long time.
Heck I even built a fire pit in the shape of the U for the University of Utah.

Also have done some really amazing decked out patios. One in certain had a gas BBQ built into an island, a gas fire pit, and gas tiki torches surrounding the patio area. That the owner could turn on with his IPAD. (Totally Automated )

The thing with a natural gas fire pit is that you can sit around it at night with the family or friends. And not smell like smoke when you are done. And it isnt that expensive to run.

Gas appliances are more efficient than electric appliances. They just heat up better. In half the amount of time.

Some people are nervous about having or using gas appliances. But im here to tell you. If they are put in correctly and used correctly They are completely safe.

I can add gas lines to about anything that you can imagine. And make it automatically come on and shut off as well.

Plumbing fixture transformation

Here is an old bathroom sink that had a bad drain and and a leaking faucet.

Now is working like new and is draining a ton better.

Tankless Water Heaters

It’s been a minute since I posted a topic. Sorry it has been busy.

The reason I wanted to share more about these amazing hot water heaters.
There is a misconception about tankless water heaters. That these are instant hot water heaters.
But that’s definitely not true.
They are continuous not instant.

The awesome thing is that these water heaters never run out of hot water. And if you want instant hot water? They can be set up to do that as well.

Me personally I was always racing to the shower before the kids so my shower didn’t get cold during a shower, by running out of hot water.

I’m here to tell you! Those days are gone! It’s so nice to have a hot enjoyable shower as long as I want. And not having to worry about using all of the hot water.

Or having to wait forever for the water heater to heat the water back up to shower.

And talk about efficiency! Oh my heck these tankless water heaters only heat up the water as you use it. They don’t heat a tank full of water all day long, every day of its life. That will definitely help save a ton of money on my gas bill.

And what a piece of mind it is to not having to worry about my water heater leaking and flooding my house. Cause these units don’t store water.

Life expectancy is huge as well! These water heaters have a 15 year manufacturing warranty. And a regular gas water heater has a 5 year warranty. BIG DIFFERENCE!

So basically I would replace three of the old steel tank heaters in the time I would replace my tankless heater.

Plumbing repair:
Dual water heater system

In these pictures you can see the way the old was plumbed in, with all white pex tying directly into the water heaters which is not code approved.

Also no separate shut offs for each water heater.

What this previous plumber must have been trying to do was tie them together in a series.

Which is something that you don’t want to do.
Because for one, if one of the water heaters goes out? They both can’t be used. Without re-plumbing the water heater.

Secondly, when you plum them in a series. The first water heater that is getting the cold water is doing most of the work.
While the other one just helps keep it heated afterwards.

So that one water heater goes out sooner than the other.

When you hook them up in a parallel set up. You can isolate them. And also they work equally hard to heat the water.

Finally, that thermal expansion tank needs to be better secured. Because when they have water in them they are too heavy for plastic strapping.
