Turns out, SCCA members are just as good at building connections as they are at building California. 🍻😄

Our Membership Mixer brought together a great group for an evening of laughs, conversations, new connections, and plenty of construction talk along the way. It was a full house at Brewery X in Anaheim on September 2nd. Great conversations, new connections, plenty of laughs, and a fantastic turnout made for a night to remember!

😷 Changes could be coming to respirator requirements: OSHA is seeking industry input as it considers changes to medical evaluation requirements for employees who use certain types of respirators.

📋 There’s also an important reporting update for U.S. businesses: U.S.-created companies are now generally exempt from certain FinCEN beneficial ownership reporting requirements under a final rule that took effect August 14.

We've got 3️⃣ big reasons to be excited about the future of heavy civil construction. SCCA Executive Director, Charlie Nobles, dives into the details of them in the July/August SCCA Magazine issue.

Why should leaders and workers be optimistic?

1. Federal level - a significant change to the Pell Grant program
2. +$18 million in funding to support approximately 160 state-registered apprenticeship programs in California
3. The Los Angeles and Orange Counties Building Trades Council is continuing to expand its Apprenticeship Readiness Fund and related pre-apprenticeship program
