On February 12, the Trump Administration announced the rescission of a major federal environmental policy, which will likely have far-reaching implications on emission standards for any class or classes of new motor vehicles or new motor vehicle engines. It might also undermine planning and development rules that are based on vehicle miles traveled. There’s no question that this will affect California, but understanding how, when, and to what extent is unclear.

Given the significance of this, Todd Bloomstine of Bloomstine & Bloomstine explains the announcement and its significance, as well as speculates on the likely effect the rescission will have on California rules, specifically vehicle emission policies. 👉 Read it here: https://sccaweb.org/resource/may-june-2026-magazine/

- Soil Retention Systems, Inc. Builds Impressive Verdura Retaining Walls for The Terraces at Walnut, a Residential and Commercial Development in the City of Walnut, Los Angeles County.

Through the early stages of site planning and at the beginning of infrastructure improvements, the developer, Sunjoint/CBC Homes, contracted with Soil Retention Systems, Inc. to consult, engineer, and ultimately supply and install multiple large Verdura® Retaining Walls to gain more developable area on the dramatic hillside property and improve the earthwork site imbalance by 1M CY.
The Soil Retention team utilized its specialized skills and equipment to build over 250,000 square feet of walls, reaching tiered heights of up to 60 feet, and expand the buildable site by 8 acres.

The total wall lengths reached over 2 miles with average heights of 20-plus feet which were configured to help provide terraced views of the surrounding community. This feat is undeniably impressive.

To top it off, Soil Retention Systems, Inc finished this project in 8 months - over two months ahead of schedule.

Helping women find meaningful opportunities in construction. 👷‍♀️🚧

Several SCCA member companies participated in mock interviews at the Women in Construction Forum held yesterday at the Laborers Training School in Azusa, helping connect job seekers with careers in construction, heavy civil construction, engineering, skilled trades, and infrastructure.

Attendees gained valuable interview experience, industry insight, and networking opportunities while learning about career pathways in California’s construction industry.

This Memorial Day, we build with purpose. 🇺🇸

Today, we honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

In construction, we know what it means to show up with dedication, strength, and commitment to something bigger than ourselves. Every road we pave, every structure we raise, and every community we help build stands on the foundation of the freedoms they fought to protect.

Their sacrifice reminds us why we take pride in our work—and why we build not just for today, but for future generations.

From all of us at SCCA, we remember, we honor, and we build in their legacy.
