Who will be our first customer tomorrow? A gardener looking for a rain barrel or new perennials for his or her garden? A mother looking for gently used toys? A crafter ready to browse the many bins of mesh & fabric ribbon and other craft supplies? There will be something for everyone! Doors open at 8:00 sharp and shopping continues to 1:00, then repeats on Saturday. Hope to see you there!

Before you squish that caterpillar, pause and look closer. That tiny creature might be a monarch, swallowtail, luna moth, or cecropia in the making — native butterflies and moths that belong in your garden ecosystem.

Here's the thing: caterpillars aren't pests. They're a critical food source for birds, they're pollinators-in-progress, and they're part of the balance that keeps your garden healthy. Yes, some will munch on your plants. But destroying every caterpillar you find means destroying the very insects that help control actual problem pests and support the web of life your tomatoes depend on.

Take five seconds. Look at what you're about to remove. If it's a monarch, swallowtail, or any of the beautiful native species, let it be. Your garden — and your local ecosystem — will be better for it. plantamericaorg

Have You Heard of “Lemonading” Gardening?

The idea comes from the familiar saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!”

In the garden, lemonading means turning challenges into creative opportunities. Instead of becoming discouraged by an awkward space, weather damage, poor soil, or a plant growing where you didn’t expect it, you work with what nature gives you.

That might mean:

Allowing a volunteer plant to remain
Turning a broken pot into garden art
Replacing heat-damaged plants with tougher varieties
Transforming a soggy area into a rain garden
Filling an empty spot with cuttings shared by a friend

Lemonading reminds us that gardens don’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. Sometimes, an unexpected change leads to the most interesting part of the garden!
