There's a pandemic of furniture restoration videos that make it look easier than it really is. In this series on hardware I'm giving a more realistic look at the process, while also sharing some ideas that have been on my mind.

Capitalism VS. Excellence. The idea of pursuing excellence in one's work naturally becomes the goal of every genuine pursuit, whether it's furniture restoration, civil engineering, or baking bread.

But what influence does that great big force, capitalism, have on the sincerity of those pursuits? Everyone wants to do what they love and get paid for it. But what happens when your client wants something done by Tuesday, but you know it takes until Friday to do it right?

I think someone tried to refinish this cabinet and accidentally scraped off some of the paper-thin veneer. The burlwood grain adds a lot of beauty to the piece, which also makes it very difficult to reproduce. 🎨🖌️
