While the crew is covered in dust and diesel, this guy’s out here turning heads and setting new standards for professionalism and plumage — all while rocking what can only be described as custom, high‑visibility PPE straight from nature’s design department. If only every hire strutted in this confident and camera‑ready.

Underground Connections crew members set aluminum trench shoring using a controlled lift to create a safe, supported workspace before anyone enters the excavation. Working along Strawberry Street in Cape Charles, the team combined vacuum excavation with mechanical digging to safely expose utilities, keep the trench stable, and maintain full compliance with safety standards. Another day of steady, disciplined work in underground construction.

In underground construction, miscues and unexpected utility conflicts happen every day — it’s part of the complex environment we all work in. Last week in Cape Charles, our team was called in after an existing sewer line was inadvertently struck. These photos show the careful, safe, and efficient process our crews follow to assess the situation, expose the line, and restore service with minimal disruption.
It’s also a reminder of why calling 811 before any excavation is so important. Even with the best intentions, underground systems aren’t always where you expect them to be — and taking that extra step helps protect crews, communities, and critical infrastructure. We’re proud to support our industry partners when challenges arise and to help keep projects moving safely.

Utility installation is underway for the two new chicken coops being built on site at Cobb Chicken Farm.
We’re installing (2) 1.25" water lines, (2) 1.25" gas lines, and (1) 3" power duct to support the new structures. All utilities are being run in HDPE so we can make clean, efficient connections without disturbing the finished building pads.

Steady work, clean trenches, and every run laid out with intention — that’s how we keep these projects moving.

Utility verification is the cornerstone of every underground utility project. Our team is trained in proven verification methods and procedures that safeguard existing infrastructure while we install new systems.

Every project involves water, sewer, storm drains, gas, power, and communication lines—and our crews know it. We implement thorough check systems to ensure all service and distribution lines are properly marked. When private utilities are involved, we use our own GPR and locating equipment to verify them.

There’s no excuse for striking a marked or unmarked utility when you’ve done your due diligence as a professional contractor.
