🪵 It's All in the Details

Sometimes, it's the finishing touches that make a room feel complete.

The clean lines of custom window casings. The character of crown molding. The warmth of natural wood accents.

These are the details that bring a space together.

At The Carpenter's Son Woodworks, we believe quality craftsmanship doesn't have to mean a complete renovation. Sometimes, thoughtfully designed trim and architectural woodwork are all it takes to give a room a whole new look.

🔨 **For homeowners:** Whether you're updating a single room or adding character throughout your home, we'd love to help bring your vision to life.

🏡 **For contractors and builders:** Need a dependable woodworking partner for custom trim, specialty millwork, or those finishing details that require a little extra attention? That's where we come in!

Beautiful spaces are built in the details.

It’s all in the details. 🪵

Custom wood countertops. Custom trim. Floating shelving.
Each of these pieces was handcrafted specifically for this kitchen, adding warmth, character, and function in a way that something off the shelf simply couldn’t.

That’s one of our favorite things about custom woodworking. It doesn’t always have to mean a huge renovation.

Sometimes it’s the countertop you can’t find in the finish you want. The trim that makes an opening finally feel finished. The shelves that need to fit that exact wall. Or the wood detail that ties an entire room together.

Built for your space. Made to belong there.

Have a space in your home that needs something you just can’t find off the shelf?

📸 Send us a picture. You don’t have to have the whole project figured out. Tell us what isn’t working, and let’s see what we can create for it.

Some spaces call for something that simply can’t come off a shelf. 🪵

This permanent installation at the Huntington Museum of Art is one of those spaces.

Several years ago, while working with the Coalfield Development team, Travis built this custom railing installation connecting the walkway between exhibition spaces.

Projects like this are part of the experience Travis now brings to The Carpenter’s Son Woodworks.

Custom woodworking isn't always a dining table or a set of shelves. Sometimes it's an architectural feature designed and built for one particular space, where the dimensions, function, materials and details all have to work together.
That's the kind of work we love.

Built for the space. Made to belong there.

Today, we bring that same approach to custom built-ins, cabinetry, mantels, architectural woodwork, specialty trim and one-of-a-kind projects for homes and businesses throughout our area.

🪵 Built by hand. Built to last.

This table is a special one because it’s a glimpse into Travis’s woodworking from years ago, and into the kind of craftsmanship that eventually became The Carpenter’s Son Woodworks.

The solid wood top was hand planed by Travis, giving the surface the subtle character and texture that you simply don’t get from mass-produced furniture. It also features drawbored mortise-and-tenon breadboard ends, a traditional joinery technique that mechanically locks the breadboard ends in place while still allowing the solid wood top to naturally expand and contract over time.

It’s the kind of construction rooted in generations of woodworking knowledge. No shortcut joinery. Just time, skill, and a piece built with longevity in mind.

And there’s another piece of Travis’s handiwork hiding in this photo. 👀

The window trim behind the table was handmade by him, too.

That’s what we mean when we talk about custom woodworking. It isn’t only furniture. It’s creating pieces for a home that feel like they belong there, from the table everyone gathers around to the architectural details surrounding it.

Years later, that same love for traditional craftsmanship and working by hand is at the heart of what we’re building with The Carpenter’s Son Woodworks. 🌳

Custom. Functional. Everlasting.

Built for your space 🔨

Sometimes the perfect piece for your home isn’t something you can find in a store.

These custom built-in bookshelves were designed to work with the room itself, wrapping the walls and corners to turn an ordinary space into something completely unique.

That’s one of our favorite things about custom woodworking.

Your home doesn’t have to fit the furniture.
The furniture can be built to fit your home.

From built-in bookshelves and storage to mantels, dining tables, vanities, entry systems and more, we can take an idea and create something specifically for your space, your style, and the way your family lives.

Have an awkward wall? An empty corner? A space you’ve been staring at thinking, “I know something should go there…” 👀

Send us a photo. We’d love to talk about what we could build for it.

The details are where the difference is made.

Before the stain. Before the finish. Before a piece ever finds its place in someone’s home, there are hours like this.

Measuring. Shaping. Refining. Making sure the details are right.

Around here, we’re not interested in turning out furniture as fast as possible. We want to build pieces that feel substantial, intentional, and worthy of being passed down.

Because someday, we hope someone looks at a table we built and says, “This has been in our family for years.”

That’s what we’re building toward.

🪵 Meet the hands behind the work.

If you’ve followed The Carpenter’s Son for a while, you’ve probably seen plenty of the things Travis has built. But we thought it was time to introduce you to the man behind them.

For Travis, woodworking has never been just about making furniture. It’s about taking something simple and creating something useful, beautiful, and built to last.

He’s a husband, dad, pastor, musician, and craftsman who has spent years learning the details of the trade and developing a deep appreciation for the kind of craftsmanship that used to be commonplace: pieces made carefully, repaired instead of replaced, and passed from one generation to the next.

That philosophy is at the heart of The Carpenter’s Son Woodworks.

Whether he’s building a dining table where a family will gather, a mantel that becomes the center of a home, or a custom piece designed for one particular space, the goal is the same:

Build it well. Build it with purpose. Build it to stay.

We’re excited to have you following along as we begin this next chapter. There’s a lot happening in the shop, and we can’t wait to show you what’s coming. 🌿
