Moscato Argento marble with the mosaic I made the other day. This tile is beautiful! I think I would like it better without the mosaic, but you give the customer what they ask for.

Fifteen years ago we collaborated with a local architect, Steven Ginn, to create this spectacular kitchen remodel. The creative ideas pushed the envelope and tested our skills and knowledge of our product like never before. Today … the house is being torn down to build a new one in its location among the coveted lots in the Loveland area. As a craftsman, it’s your hope that something you’ve created with your hands will outlast you and generations after you so future owners can have something unique that no one else has and they can appreciate the hard work that went in to create it. Unfortunately, this piece of artwork will slip into anonymity and soon will be rubble in the landfill. There’s more information in the comments.

Working on my final cast concrete job. It’s an outdoor fountain. Still have to build a base. Can’t wait til it’s finished. Should be dramatic in the garden it will reside.

Just started working on my last concrete project. Strictly tile and stone work from here on out.

Yesterday I had to register my phone number on the National ‘Do Not Call’ list. I apologize if this creates an issue getting through to me. I had a company called Online Listing Solutions harassing me. It’s been every day for probably two months and as many as three calls a day wanting to increase my Google presence. I had asked at least four times to be put on their Do Not Call list and 24 hours later I would get a call. It was a different number just about every time, so I didn’t know if it was a legitimate business related call. Finally yesterday, I played along and spoke to someone at the next level to discuss this issue. After being badgered, insulted, and then asked for a credit card number, I was told I would receive twice as many calls for refusing their (con) services. They’ve been reported to the Federal Trade Commission and three numbers I’m aware of have been blocked.

Attack of the SKU reader!!!
I call to get pricing on tile. I always ask for a square foot price because that’s how you bid projects and nowadays most tile is sold in full carton quantities. Some suppliers (to remain anonymous) only read SKU’s, not the brand along with color description and size. After spending an unusually long amount of time finding the selection I was quoted two months ago, the total price was seven times higher than I was originally quoted. Apparently I confused the person who reads SKU’s by asking questions that involve math. I was given a “per piece” price, not a “square foot” price.
I guess I need to change the way I figure estimates. Here’s my price based on information that may or may not be accurate, give or take several hundreds, pontentially thousands of dollars. Please plan accordingly.

Here we go again! I’ve had to deal with this more than once. I order material for a job, pay for it in advance, and then several weeks later I’m invoiced for sales tax because the warehouse forgot to charge me. Apparently no one owns their mistakes anymore. There’s no shame in asking a customer to pay for your mistakes. Since when do I get to determine when I pay sales tax for a retail purchase? I’m not tax exempt.

This needs to be said: SHOP LOCAL! Right now I’m dealing with a company who sells tile online direct. The company is Bedrosians Tile and Stone. The homeowners picked a tile that is rather ‘run of the mill’ and I feel could have been found locally, but it was insisted by the architect to just follow through with what was selected. These online tile purchases never end well. First, I try to pay with my credit card four times and each time my attempt is rejected. So I reach out to their customer service for help. They can’t help unless they can see exactly what I’m trying to purchase. Telling them my selection means nothing. So I take a screenshot and email it. This doesn’t help because the transaction isn’t complete. THAT’S WHY I’M CONTACTING YOU! It’s finally figured out that the address to my shop - the delivery location, is different than the address on my credit card - my home address. So I change the address and it finally goes through. After the transaction is complete there are two additional charges added on which we’re not originally revealed when I was getting quotes for the estimate. An 8% fuel charge was tacked on AND a $30 lift gate fee. We don’t need the use of a lift gate but there’s no disputing this. Then I get aa email confirmation telling when and where they’re shipping the tile. That’s right … it’s coming to my house!!! I call the shipping company to tell them to deliver to my place of business NOT my house since no one will be there to accept it and they were going to leave it at the end of my driveway. After giving them the address to the shop, I get a surprise charge of $64 for changing my mind to where I want it shipped. FYI this is all getting passed along to the homeowner. And when the truck shows up to deliver, I’m going to make sure he uses his lift gate to unload. Buying local would have saved them at least $175 in bogus charges.
