A little Husker pride and a lot of hands-on learning! 🔴⚪

We’re proud to be part of this project supporting workforce development alongside UNL’s Durham School, contractors and suppliers. Together, we’re helping students bring classroom lessons to life outside Kiewit Hall.

Great to see these students and their hard work getting some well deserved recognition!

What was once a worn patch of grass is now a symbol of Husker pride, thanks to 130 UNL students who put classroom lessons to work. ⤵️ Find a link to the story in the comments.

Jobsite Drop-In: Workforce Development Project!

Watkins-Omaha and Watkins-Lincoln are working with The Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction at UNL to help bring classroom learning to the jobsite! This workforce development project involves more than 100 engineering students building a 29' × 25' paver patio in front of Kiewit Hall on University of Nebraska-Lincoln's campus, featuring the iconic Nebraska “N” as the centerpiece.

Watkins is proud to support this project alongside Rochester Concrete Products and Belgard Outdoor Living through material donations. Hardscapes By Mitera Designs and RDM Landscapes donated equipment and time to help the students bring it to life.

Projects like this give students valuable hands-on experience while connecting them with the people and materials behind the work. A big thank you to everyone helping the next generation build their skills! 👏

The Mobile Masonry Tour arrives next week! 🧱

From October 5 through 8, students and educators will experience masonry careers firsthand through live demonstrations featuring The MULE and The SAM, interactive learning, Oculus VR training and conversations with industry professionals.
