With heavy rain expected Tuesday and Wednesday, now is the time to take a few simple steps to help protect your home or business from water damage.

Before the rain arrives:

🏠 Around your home
Clean out gutters and downspouts.
Make sure downspouts direct water away from your foundation.
Check your sump pump and make sure it is working properly.
Clear leaves and debris from drains and storm grates.
Check your roof for damaged or missing shingles.
Inspect windows, doors and other areas for potential leaks.
Move valuables, electronics and important documents away from areas prone to leaks or flooding.

🏢 For your business
Check drains, gutters and roof areas for blockages.
Make sure exterior doors and loading areas are properly sealed.
Check sump pumps and drainage systems.
Move inventory, equipment and important documents off the floor in vulnerable areas.
Have a plan for protecting critical equipment if water begins entering your building.
