25 years. One purpose. A lot of history in between.

Since 2001, Altus has been dedicated to design focused, healthcare specific architecture. Over the years, our look has evolved, our team has grown, and our story has continued to take shape, but the purpose behind the work has remained the same... 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡.

This October, we’re celebrating 25 years of Altus by looking back at the projects, people, milestones, and moments that have shaped who we are today, while also looking ahead to everything still to come.

We couldn't be more excited to announce our newest architect, planner, and black belt, Thinh Nguyen!

Thinh isn't just a master of blending visionary design with the complexities of healthcare regulations with over 2 decades of designing hospitals, cancer centers, and medical office buildings, he also recently earned his black belt 🥋.

Just like in architecture, martial arts requires discipline, precision, and a deep understanding of movement—qualities Thinh brings to every project. His ability to anticipate challenges, adapt to constraints, and execute with grace makes him a true master in both arenas.

We’re excited to showcase the dramatic transformation of this 7,720-square-foot Emergency Department renovation and addition for Myrtue Medical Center.

🏥 Scope of Work
The project included renovating 5,220 square feet of the existing Emergency Department and adding 2,500 square feet of new space to accommodate essential program needs: Triage, Fast Track, Treatment, Trauma, and support spaces.

🔍 Challenges We Tackled
This wasn’t just a facelift—it was a complete reimagining of patient care and workflow:
• A centralized nurse station was repositioned for optimal efficiency and improved site lines.
• 2 new Behavioral Health Rooms were added, addressing a critical gap.
• Storage issues were solved with enhanced equipment and clean storage solutions.
• Site circulation, patient safety, and entry visibility were all redesigned for better flow.

🌟 The Vision
Our goals centered on improving:
• Staff adjacency for seamless patient care.
• Safety and workflow enhancements for both staff and patients.
• Storage capacity to match the growing needs of the department.

🚧 Behind the Scenes
Through a strategic multi-phased construction plan that included relocating columns and load-bearing walls, the ED temporarily relocated, enabling uninterrupted care while allowing for a single-phase build.
