Not my typical post but an important message!

Have a great Tuesday everyone. Bring your best attitude into whatever situation you’re thrust into! 🤓

Sometimes you have to admire the ingenuity 😂

Apparently there was a leak here at some point, so the ceiling had to be opened up.

Patch the drywall afterward? ❌
Buy a random vent cover, put white paper behind it so you can’t see through it, and screw it over the hole? ✅

No duct. No vent. Just a decorative register pretending to be part of the ceiling. 😂

I’ve seen some creative repairs doing this job, but this one might be a first.

Don’t worry—we’re actually fixing it this time. 🫡

Quick little Saturday project 🔨🎨

I’d already been out at this property doing some junk removal, but there was also some water-damaged trim that needed a little attention — so here’s a quick day-in-the-life montage of getting it repaired, cleaned up, and looking right again.

Nothing crazy. Just one of those smaller projects that still makes a BIG difference once it’s finished. 👌

If you’ve got 3 minutes, watch it through to the end! It genuinely helps push my content out to more people, and I appreciate everyone who’s been supporting these videos.

I’m trying to show more of the actual day-to-day behind running a painting/home-improvement business — not just perfectly edited before-and-afters.

If you enjoy this kind of stuff, drop a like, leave a comment, or share it with somebody. And if there’s anything you’d like to see me make a video about — painting tips, repairs, pricing, running the business, tools, behind-the-scenes stuff, whatever — leave me a suggestion in the comments. I’m always looking for ideas.

Appreciate y’all following along. 🤝

Another rental property wrapped up and ready for its next chapter. 🎨🏠

We gave the entire interior a fresh coat of gray throughout, using an eggshell finish in the common areas for a clean, durable look and semi-gloss in the kitchen and bathroom for added durability and easier cleaning.

Fresh, simple, and ready for the next tenant.

Property manager’s happy. Owner’s happy. We’re happy with how it turned out.

On to the next one. 💪

Wrapping up another one here in Omaha. 🏠🎨

Still have a little work to knock out tomorrow, then it’s cleanup time and on to the next project.

I’ve been staying pretty busy lately, but looking ahead at the schedule, I do have a few openings coming up as we head into November.

So if you’ve been thinking about getting some painting done — or you have a friend, family member, neighbor, landlord, or business owner who’s been talking about a project — feel free to send them my way.

Interior painting, exterior painting, drywall repairs, trim work, and plenty of the little projects that tend to get pushed off until “someday.”

I’m always happy to stop by, take a look at what you’ve got in mind, talk through the options, and put together a fair estimate.

Another one almost in the books. On to the next. 🤝

One thing I’ve learned from growing my painting business is that opportunities are literally everywhere — but you have to be willing to go introduce yourself.

You do NOT need to dump thousands of dollars into Facebook ads, Google Ads, lead generation companies, or some complicated marketing strategy just to start getting your name out there.

Sometimes the best marketing costs almost nothing.

Whenever I’m working on a painting project in a neighborhood, I try to look at the bigger picture. I’m not just working on one house — I’m spending the entire day surrounded by potential future customers.

People are driving past the job.

Neighbors are walking their dogs.

Someone across the street is watching us transform a house.

Someone two doors down has been thinking about painting their exterior for the last three years.

So when I finish working for the day, sometimes I’ll spend a little extra time knocking on a few neighboring doors. I introduce myself, tell them I’m the contractor working on the house nearby, hand them a flyer or business card, and let them know what we do.

That’s it.

No ridiculous sales pitch. No trying to pressure somebody into booking an estimate on the spot.

I’m just putting a face to the business.

Because especially when you’re building a local service company, I think one of the most valuable things you can possibly become is RECOGNIZABLE.

You want people in your community to start seeing your truck.

Seeing your signs.

Seeing your projects.

Seeing your posts.

Seeing your face.

Then six months from now when somebody says, “Do you guys know a painter?” your company isn’t some random name they found on Google.

They’ve seen you before.

That’s how a local reputation starts getting built.

And I think a lot of newer contractors overlook this because spending money feels like marketing. It feels productive to turn on an ad campaign and wait for the phone to ring.

But when you’re starting out, you probably have something more valuable than a giant advertising budget:

TIME.

Use it.

Knock on doors. Talk to homeowners. Introduce yourself to realtors. Meet property managers. Talk to other trades. Leave business cards. Post your projects. Take before-and-after pictures. Make videos. Ask happy customers for reviews. Tell people what you do.

Make yourself impossible to forget.

Obviously there’s a place for paid advertising.

But advertising should amplify the reputation you’re already building, not replace actually being involved in your community.

If I’m already working in a neighborhood and doing good work, why WOULDN’T I introduce myself to the people living 50 feet away?

The opportunity is already standing right there.

Sometimes growing a business isn’t about finding some secret marketing strategy.

It’s about realizing how many opportunities you’ve been walking past every single day.

Get out there. Talk to people. Do good work. Be somebody people remember.

That s**t compounds.

Can your painter paint this fast? 🤓 it’s okay if you’re not laughing I’m laughing enough for the both of us!

🎨 Pro Painter Tip: Roll your first coat BEFORE cutting in.

Here’s a small change in order that can save a surprising amount of time on an interior repaint.

I like to roll my first coat first, getting the roller as tight as possible to ceilings, corners, trim, doors, and windows.

Why?

First coat always takes longer than the second. By rolling first, I’ve already covered almost everything the roller can reach. When I come back to cut in, I only need to brush the small area the roller couldn’t get — instead of cutting several inches out onto a completely unpainted wall.

Then I cut in my second coat and roll everything out one final time.

Same two full coats. Same finished product. Just less time spent brushing on that slower first coat.

Work smarter, keep the quality. 🤝

“Paint”fluencer? Is that a thing?🤣

Here’s a little pro tip, might help you out, might not. We all do it a little different but this is what I prefer to do.

Fast and effective!
