David Greusel, FAIA, helped design two Major League Baseball ballparks, but he doesn’t want people to recognize a “David Greusel building.” He wants each project to feel like it belongs to the community it serves.

Meet the architect, author, photographer and longtime radio comedy performer leading Schemmer’s Kansas City office.

Last week, we lost a great colleague and friend, Matt Shimerdla, PE.

Schemmer is better because Matt was part of our team. His enthusiasm reminded us to celebrate the work we did together, and his positive outlook made him a friend we were glad to work with.

We are grateful for Matt and the time we shared with him. We will miss him dearly. Our thoughts are with his family and all those who loved him.

Matt Shimerdla, PE, gave us plenty of reasons to be glad he was part of Schemmer. He brought experience to our projects, enthusiasm to our […]

We enjoyed welcoming Waukee Community School District’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers to Schemmer’s Clive office!

Our team shared a firsthand look at the projects our architects and engineers work on, the technology they use, and the career opportunities available to students right here in the Des Moines area. We also appreciated hearing from the teachers about how real-world experiences can help students explore their futures.

Thank you for spending part of your day with us and we look forward to continuing the conversation and finding more ways to help students build the skills and connections for their future careers.

The wrong stormwater approach can cost a project time, space and money.

Rain gardens, bioretention and traditional pipes each have a role, but the right solution depends on the site. See what owners should consider before the site plan is set: https://www.schemmer.com/rain-gardens-bioretention-and-traditional-pipes-choosing-the-right-stormwater-approach/

On an undeveloped landscape, much of the rain soaks into the soil or is taken up by plants. Add streets, rooftops and parking lots, and […]

We love the design process, but seeing our clients and their residents enjoying the finished space is the real win. Thank you to the BH Management team for letting us celebrate this exciting milestone with you!
