This custom luxury barndominium and barn conversion was designed to preserve the history and charm of the original structure while transforming it into a beautiful, functional ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) for modern living.

The Tenino, Washington home features a full living area downstairs and a separate second living space upstairs—perfect for guests, multi-generational living, extended family, or entertaining.

To maintain the authentic character of the original barn, we incorporated unique elements from the existing structure, including an original stall door repurposed as a custom interior barn door.

Every company has a story. Here's ours.

After more than 10 years as a framer, Blaine Farrar had spent his career building homes for other companies. Eventually, he decided it was time to build something of his own.

His first opportunity as an independent contractor was framing this very large 8 bay detached garage!—a job Blaine couldn't believe he was chosen for. When it was complete, Blaine took the earnings from that very first job straight to L&I- officially registered Black Bear Construction, LLC- and invested in the tools needed to build a company from the ground up.

That first garage became the foundation of something much bigger. 10 years later, Black Bear Construction continues to serve homeowners with the same values it was founded on: hard work, craftsmanship, honesty, and a commitment to building every project as if it were our own.

The rest, as they say, is history.
