Great reminders from Swim University regarding pool covers!

#1. Remove Standing Water ASAP
Water pooling on your cover adds serious weight, stretch your cover, or even pull on your pool walls. Use a pool cover pump or sump pump to remove standing water before it freezes.

#2. Brush Off Snow and Debris
Heavy snow can collapse your cover and damage your pool. Use a soft broom (never a shovel) to gently push snow off the cover.

#3. Check Your Air Pillow and Cables
If you have an air pillow under your cover, make sure it still has air in it. A deflated pillow won't protect your pool from ice damage. Also check that your cover cables are tight.

#4. Inspect for Rips or Tears
Look for any damage to your cover material. Small tears can become big problems when ice forms. If you spot damage now, patch it before it gets worse.

One quick inspection this week saves you hours of cleanup (and money) in the spring.
